One day some of us will look back on the year and look at the chicago, and most of us will realize that it was a small bump in the road to the cup

Actually surprised that Groulx comes out for Andersson. Figured it would be Polasek or Connauton. Instead, an AHL vet actually gets scratched.

Sweatt - Longpre - Jensen

Andersson - Vandermeer

Climie

Sami Aittokallio is in net for the Monsters, not Pickard.

The Monsters take an early interference penalty and the Wolves will be the first to go on the PP.

Not much happening here.

Beaupre of the Monsters just instigated a fight with Kattelus.

Beaupre will get called for the instigator penalty and the Wolves will get their 2nd PP.

With Kattelus in the box for fighting, Longpre replaces him at center on the 1st unit. Sweatt, Sterling, Haydar and Hunt are the other usual suspects out there.

Archibald - Davies - Jensen and Connauton - Vandermeer is the 2nd unit. They're doing better than the 1st unit in terms of possession, but still no shots or decent chances of any kind.

Wolves 0/2 on the PP now.

Longpre took a shot on goal and Haydar poked it across the line, although they're reviewing it to make sure it did cross the line completely.

Arniel can develop players. He did it fine with the Manitoba Moose. It really comes down to the mandate of the organization. I believe it's the Wolves organization that is the problem, not Arniel.

They actually ruled it a no goal. The Wolves color guy is beside himself. Apparently from their angle it was definitely a goal.

Wolves kill off the penalty with some good work, as usual, by Guillaume Desbiens. Haydar and Kattelus then get sprung on a 3-2 rush but nothing came of it.

1st period is over after very little action. Honestly, this team is pretty hopeless. I realize they're thin down the middle but they've just got way too many grinder type players and not enough sheer offensive talent. Sterling and Haydar are consistent producers when they have a good center between them but without that critical piece, they seem hardpressed to produce.

Re: Jensen, the guy simply isn't doing much right now. He's not playing poor, per se, but he's not standing out either. At the very least he seems to be a factor on the PP, though.

I could see him being Selanne-like in the future in the sense that he'll rack up goals and points with the man advantage. He protects the puck down low well, gets himself into prime scoring areas and has the ability to bury pucks; all good assets on the PP.

Joey Hishon gets his first pro goal to tie the game for the Monsters. He has been out with a severe concussion for the better part of two years so it's nice for him to pot his 1st.

1-1.

Interesting that the Canucks would buy the Rivermen now rather than in the offseason.

I guess because there's lots to be done between now and next fall and the Rivermen don't really stand a good chance of making the playoffs as of now.
