Why has Mike Gillis not pulled the trigger?

Its starting to look like that isn't it?

I'd rather call it too late this year. Acquired too many pieces that don't fit (Ballard, Booth), left too many holes open (centre, RHD), just too many assets (including Lou) rotting when we have needs.

WE HAVE NEEDS!

Shifting those types of assets at the deadline is the wrong time to rebuild. Still I'd move Ballard for picks. Should get something similar to Leopold?

This would be a terrible year for the Canucks to go 'all in'.

:picard: Why do I keep having to explain this???

We are not going to blow up our future now to have a slightly better chance to win this year..... Our prospect pool is bad enough as is, we dont need it getting worse.

If we go all in now, then we probably have 5 or so years where we will be at the bottom of the NHL. If we compete now but dont make as many big deals then we probably have a 2 year period in the future when we are rebuilding.

See that's the problem lol why are we even in a position were we cant go full throttle on other trams and still have a decent shot next season. That's where gillis and his horrible decision makin these last few years has got us. How is it that the red wings have been able to compete year after year and were at a point that if we make a bold were basically out of the playoff run for the "next 5 years".

Durr. . . Ken Holland himself stated publicly that the Red Wings are 50/50 to make the playoffs this year.

The Canucks have their D and goaltending set for years to come. The Sedins, should they stay in Vancouver, may fade into a sceondary scoring role but will still be top-6 for 5 years or so.

We are not on the verge of being bottom feeders for years. That would be Calgary and Colorado. We have better owners, a better GM. . . basically better everything.

we can keep speculating and speculating about everything or we can all just face the fact that none of us know even a little bit of what goes on behind the scenes between gms/agents/players. People flame Gillis to no end for not just simply "pulling the trigger" when in reality it is far more complicated than that and Gillis is undoubtedly doing whatever he can to get a stanley cup (without screwing up the future of the organization)
