      Forum-specific Rules   07/11/2017

These are board specific rules for the Trades and Rumors forum designed to provide organization and a better experience for everyone. Please review these rules before posting new threads.
THREAD ETIQUETTE   1. Please search for an existing thread before posting. This forum can be very fast moving, so it's understandable if redundant threads are inadvertently posted. In such a case, please use the report feature to request removal of redundant threads.    2. Provide a clearly identifiable topic title so that users can readily understand the content. The title should include any and all teams involved, as well as player names or other personnel involved as appropriate.   3. All trades, signings, rumors and other news MUST include a linkable source. Simply posting the name of the source is not enough. Effort should also be made to copy and paste the full article, or at the very least the relevant portion of text from the source to the first post of the thread. Moderators may remove low-quality threads in favour of high-quality threads.

Affixed to the front of your title should be a label that identifies the type of transaction that is taking place. For all trades use [TRADE]. For all signings use [SIGNING]. For all waiver-wire transactions use [WAIVERS]. For all rumours use [RUMOUR].
For articles or news items that don't fit into the above categories, affix an appropriate label of your choice such as [NEWS], [ARTICLE] or [MISC].   4. When the status of a thread changes a new thread can be created. The new thread should reflect the change and help focus the discussion on current events. e.g. Someone may create a new thread when a rumor becomes a trades. The old thread will be locked by the moderating team.    5. Do not misrepresent the contents of your thread or post false trades or rumors. Trolling will result in a permanent suspension.

SOURCES   The following source types are considered INVALID. Any links to posts or threads on other message boards Any links to personal blogs Any news heard on the radio that does not have a link to an audio vault or podcast Any news seen on television that does not have a link to online video Any news spread by word of mouth
Additionally, certain sources may be be blacklisted due to poor credentials, clear traffic-mongering etc. Blacklisted sources will be posted here.
Thank you for your co-operation and please PM the Administrator or Moderators if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding this forum.

Okay Gillis, take your finger out of your butt and make a trade. Don't wait till the deadline and then overpay for washed up plugs.

As per David Pollak‏@PollakOnSharks3h

On the Clowe front: BOS, but not MON on scouts list tonight. Both teams watched #SJSharks vs. DET. Also here: Mike Gillis, Canucks GM.

Can speculate all we want who he is looking at, he normally throws a curveball when we think we know who he is targeting.

Top two that come to mind would be Clowe or Torres

We will have to overpay for washed up players, or any player, right now too.

Trades just aren't easy to make unless we want to overpay with a price that doesn't make sense.

Most likely looking at Antoine Vermette or Ryan Clowe. Highly doubt all this Raffi Torres rumblings, as does Botch.

We play a defensive system too like Phoenix.

How bad could he be, he brings alot of talent to the table and can be a legitimate 1 shot scoring threat.

Also he played less than 20 games for Tampa, thats not a large enough sample size to say he can only produce offense in Phoenix.

If we can get him at a decent price, I will take him over some of the other options out there.

If Clowe was smart he would stay in the West.... Pens are gonna tear apart everyone in the East during the playoffs

Blame the media for that. Luongo was the same way with the media before this season, so would you call him boring and passionless? Exactly.

Just because the players don't want to cause a stir in front of the camera it doesn't mean they have no personality off camera.

95% of the league is boring and passionless if we go by what you just said.

Is it sad that I would actually like to see him just so we would have someone with an actual personality on the team once Luo goes?

Our team is a bunch of really boring personalities. Bieksa is funny sometimes but comes across as a douche most of the time. Kesler is just a whiner. Everyone else just screams out boring and passionless.

Couture for Raymond Mallet and a 3rd-4th if Raymond resigns

steal

More likely they want a 1st or second and maybe Kconn with Raymond

I'm sure there's lots of good players that could be had for mid round picks. Just gotta be creative and go for the players that are undervalued.

Like Higgins and Lapierre.

He's worth more to Phoenix. Still, by the season if over. Vrbata would still not understand the Canucks system. He won't know what he's doing. You'll be lucky if Vrbata even plays 20 games this season if he is acquired.

Doesn't help this team. Much better offering more for Jagr/Clowe.

You could say that about alot of players.

And considering Clowe is a rental that hasn't been good at all this year, I would rather pay more of Vrbata who has a great contract for next year rather than overpay for Clowe.

Even Jagr. I would rather pay less and get Vrbata. Although if we can get Jagr at a reasonable price I would love to do that. Although I doubt he is available at a reasonable price.

Oh the wild trade speculation.

The Canucks play the Sharks on Monday. Makes sense Gillis is there.

Clowe's had a shoulder injury - has been producing nothing despite playing in a quality top 6 - I wouldn't take a risk on him - something seems wrong with the guy. Let the Bs overpay for him. Not much of interest on SJ aside from their 2 and 3 Cs, that also happen to be their best assets moving forward imo...

Might be a good time to trade Ballard, when the prices are insane - if that pylon Murray went for a pair of 2nds, Keith has to be worth considerably more than that - and he's been scratched recently. I don't see Alberts being a better option than Ballard, so I have to wonder if he's not being shopped.

Phoenix wish list - Gordon. Perhaps Vermette if the price is right.

Clowes back to his self now, hes been playing injured but he's healthy again. Past few games he's been very noticeable. Even if he isn't scoring, he's being physical.

Jagr makes everyone better. Maybe he'll get Kesler passing again.

Vrbata is a potential skater that doesn't know what to do. That's what I'm saying. I rather overpay for something, rather than pay for nothing. You are overrating Vrbata. Adding Vrbata does nothing. You can disagree all you want, I'm pretty sure he won't be a Canuck any time soon.
