I honestly do not care what the team does anymore with MG and AV. My expectations are rock bottom.

Schroeder is a player that will not fit on the 4th and not sure why AV did that but zack is fine on the 4th, big body not a lot between the ears.

Kassian playing 4th line banger minutes while he's fresh off a back injury makes absolutely zero sense. I'm not sure how many people here have actually had a back injury, but going into that sort of role would make absolutely zero sense coming off of it. Playing top-6 minutes in the AHL while he gets into game shape, and doesn't have to play the physical role makes way more sense with this type of injury.

Totally in favor of this move.

Read your own post again....

Now go ahead and tell what there is in there to indicate it's sarcasm. What's going on inside your head does not show up on a message board, only what you actually write. Which means if you are being sarcastic you need to include something that actually indicates you are being sarcastic as opposed to looking like one of the multitude of idiots posting those very same sentiments.

/sarcasm lesson

Hahaha

Thanks bud

Guess he needs to learn how to take constructive criticism.

You guys all forget how, Kesler, Burrows, Juice, Cory, Hansen, MayRay where all developed.

you don't think Hodgson or Grabner are better players cause of the development here?

We make good players

We are currently making a good player.

I said this on the other thread and its truly how I feel

AV is actually doing the opposite of what you all think

He is trying to regain his confidence, he does this all the time

I remember how mad I would get when he sent Hansen down all the time and look at him now.

Hansen knows he has to earn his spot and work hard to keep it.

I'm a Zach supporter and I believe in 2 to 3 years he'll have proven to be a more valuable piece than Hodgson (whom I liked a lot) but I like the stint in the AHL. It'll be good for him. I've found in years of
coaching that the bigger the young guys are the longer it takes for them to "grow into themselves" BTW
has everyone noticed the struggles with Lucic this year? Maybe he needs a trip to the AHL?

Just to further you point :

Jordan Schroeder, who got benched Thursday against Colorado, will be back centring the team's second line.
"He's a guy who thrives when he has confidence," Jannik Hansen said. "With the type of player he is, everyone is expecting him to be putting up points, but he has to be put in those situations.
"If he's not, he's not taking the chances and looking to do the same kind of plays. It comes with experience and confidence. You feel more comfortable around the guys and you're more susceptible to trying plays he can do.
"Just look at the long stretch pass he had in L.A. You probably wouldn't have seen that in the first couple of games.
"Those types of players have to play that way if they want to play here."

It's hilarious watching a bunch of you guys freak out because you don't know what a conditioning stint is.

Sweet our only decent physical player .

He may be marginally physical, but he is not a 'decent' player. Just more evidence of how stinking bad this trade was.

he was the leading goal scorer on the team when playing with the Sedins you doofus :picard: .

*Note to self: Never smoke whatever the hell AV is smoking.

He played himself off the Sedin line, and never earned his way back on it.

If he needs to play why can't he play in the NHL? Does AV want us to lose all of our games.

Actually, we are winning most of our games without Kassian playing a significant role.

Yeah but codys been in buffalos first line since the start of the season... if I do recall kassian was making pace with hodgson when kassian was on our first line. But production stopped when he got moved to the third.

Different scenarios.

HIs play fell off, then he got moved - his play never got any better, so he played his way into the AHL.

Well said.

Regardless, dude has zero points and is a -6 in his last 11 games. And please don't give me that "it's not his role to score" b.s. He has been invisible.

Did u even watch the 6 in a row ?

My god they should have lost 3 of those games easy.

This team hasn't been able to produce offense for years now.

They won all but one of those games on incredible goaltending from Schneider.

Well glad to see they are bringing in some new blood. Now if they would just call someone up to replace Ebbett.

I would like to see K Connauton get a shot and can't understand why he hasn't yet especially after painfully watching pylons like Alberts and Barker looking horrible and clearly in over their heads.

For all we know this guy could give our struggling power play a bit of a boost which they clearly need.

Connauton brings it all to the table i would love to see this guy bring it.

They have no-one to replace Ebbett - that is our depth at centre since MG moved Hodgson and didn't bring back a quality centre - he already knew Kesler was hurt and Manni was not cutting it when he made that stinking trade.

the sedins sucked when kassian was on their line ... their O zone play time was way down kassian didnt help out in the cycle at all or help out in setting up the sedins like burrows does .. i guess people dont remember when kassian knocked in his 5 tap in goals that people were wondering what was wrong with the sedins and why they were not getting many chances... it was becasue kassian would just glide to the front of the net and sit there waiting for a tap in and not leave the front of the net until the puck cleared the zone... if kassian is such a beast and so skilled he shouldve had no problem putting the puck in the net playing with higgins and booth but he couldnt .. its funny sedins kesler burrows hansen..all had to take their lumps playing 3rd line 4th line minutes and killing penalties and worked their way into top roles... if kassian cant do that then why should we just hand him first line minutes? everyone looks good with the sedins only good players look good without them ....and kassian looks like hes not even NHL ready when hes not playing with the sedins... ...hodgson had no problem hittin the stats sheet playing 3rd line minutes with hansen and higgins... so whats kassians problem? maybe he will figure it out back in the AHL

Hodgeson fanboy,,your colours are showing bro..every post you make is a Kassian put down..give the kid a break..he has been playing with plugs most of the year..I will agree that he should have a few more points and does look lost at times,,but that comes with play..not 6 minutes a night on the 3rd or 4th line.

Anyway, people have their own opinions,,,Kassian will be back whether you like it or not and will prove most of his detracters wrong Im betting.

Best post on the thread.

Some fans seem to have short term memories. Remember Hansen's early career? Started slow, improved a bit, fought for the puck, skated hard. Then he started to coast. Middling points dried up completely. Got sent down for about 6 games. Came back up and played hard -- and consistently -- ever since. Developed his offense bit by bit over that time.

See the parallels with Kassian?

It's up to Kassian if he wants it or not. Hansen's demotion sure shook him up and told him what it took to make it at the NHL level.

Was Hansen a first line type player or a defensive specialist AV loves players who are like himself he cant stand the players who are gifted offensive types!

Connauton has done precious little this year to deserve being brought up. He still can't play defence, and his offence is in the tank.

Ya he can smash and bash and crash people but he"s not scoring.....Vigneault wants scoring and mashing all in one. Kas needs more ice time and conditioning and maybe find his "hands" ...not fighting but actually scoring. Look at Shchroeder when he was sent down. It did wonders for him. ;)

"this year they have struggled to score with an AHL lineup most of the year.''
- I'm not aware we've had more injuries than the average team... certainly nothing as bad as Ottawa. Apart from Kesler, the top six forwards have been in the lineup all year.
- a main reason the scoring has dried up is only one good play making center. (Loss of Salo and his passing ability also hurts.)
- see this basically as conditioning... though I don't think Kassian is NHL ready at this point.

The problem is how thin we are in the AHL - we have precious little of any quality to bring up. It is not like when we had a team stocked with 30 goal scorers like Burrows, Kesler, Raymond, and Hansen - we no longer have anything down there - the consequence of all of the draft picks and draft slots we traded away for nothing.

You might want to actually take a look at Kassian's TOI over the course of the year, and then compare it to what Hodgson received. I'm not a Hodgson "fanboy", but lies like the one I quoted above don't do your side any favours.

because I told a lie to piss everyone off ?...you are right...he has recieved more icetime than I mentioned,,he was getting 15-16 minutes,,dropping down to 6-7 minutes at times depending how much in the doghouse he was..Hodgesons Icetimes had a lot to do with the nux being well set a centre...really no place for Hodgeson to play when he was here...I will say he would look good now with our lack of centre depth, but its old news.

Corey Perry 28pts
Rick Nash 28pts
Cody Hodgson 28pts
Zack Kassian AHL

Too funny. Lets address this garbage first. Kassian, who I firmly believe will be just as good if not better player than Cody in time, is a year behind Cody in development. Hmm....what were Cody's numbers last year again?

83 GP - 19 G - 22 A - 41 P

Zack this year is: 27 GP - 5 G - 3 A - 8 P

So multiply that by approx. 3 and you have your comparatives. Roughly....besides the assists they're not that far off. Kassian will never be the playmaker that Cody is and will be. What he will eventually become is a big, fast, mean goal scoring machine that has some hands and will still get his share of assists. See where he is next year after a full 80+ game schedule under his belt please before making any comparisons to Cody.

It's nothing more than a conditioning stint, and I can't wait to see Jensen as well. Eventually, I wouldn't be surprised to see those two on the same line.

Schroeder had a stint in the minors, it's Kassian's turn. I was saying a while back, both need to be sent back down for a while.. Their production ceased and they were playing with no drive or like they were exhausted. Looking forward to seeing Jensen for a couple games! ::D

"It's an opportunity, we don't look at it as a last chance... We look at it as an opportunity to do something great. We are going to take it period by period, shift by shift. You just have to be better than the guy across from you... Every guy in this locker room I can say believes we can do this." - Ryan Kesler

Frankly, I find it sad and a little bit frightening.

These same people are voting and shaping our society with an identical impulsive, blind rage. And I don't consider that to be much hyperbole. There's a reason politicians get away with murder, it's not hard to fool fools.
