But Gillis had nothing in place to compensate for injuries.
Everyone knew Manny would potentially be shut down for the year. The only depth center brought in was Ebbet.
In the first week, we saw Booth get hurt for 4 weeks. No one was brought in to pick up the slack. The farm system built by Gillis has produced no viable NHL forwards. That is on the GM.
It is obvious that the weight of impending trades is negatively implacting this team. Luongo is a leader on the team, and everyone knows that he is going to be traded at some point. There is a huge amount of uncertainty as players don't know who or what else might be involved in that trade. It is a huge distraction. The GM can take care of this distraction and has not.
No viable forwards?
Kassian? Hodgson? Schroeder? Even Jensen.
I'm sorry I don't think you can pin us running into injury problems on Gillis. We need a center that's something he has been working non-stop on for awhile.
There is just not much out there for trade right now, and there was even less available at the beginning of the year. Trades aren't easy to make, This isn't NHL 13.
But we have alot of wing depth, and any team facing the injuries we are and have been facing would probably be in the same position. All 29 other teams have needs just like us. And the only ones who have been able to address those are the ones who have been willing to over pay (aside from the GM's who have delt with Calgary
) So if Gillis is a bad GM because he hasn't been able to make a move, then there are probably about 25 other GM's out there who are just as bad.
they have 3, to win we need 4. math
The score is 3-1. We need 2 to get it to OT/SO. 3 to win.
