lol the Leafs team you see was put together by Burke. Nonis has yet to put his stamp on them. Ruff was the coach for like 12 years, he was good enough to be part of the staff of Team Canada

Burke/Nonis built this canucks core and now the Maple Leafs are enjoying Burke's hard work in Toronto.

Burke IN, Gillis OUT.

Benning will be fired next year. Hope he enjoys screwing around for a few months. I just cant believe this. Another injured BC player. We just got rid of garrison. Seems like the canucks and linden just wanted any BC born player. Doesn't matter if hes good or not. We don't need another Linden to get us to game 7 of the Stanley cup and lose. We need someone to win us a cup.

5 million a year for Vrbata? 6 million for Miller? Kesler for Bonino and 24th instead of 10th pick or one of their top prospects? Garrison for scraps?

ive already lost faith in JB. Ive never EVER had this bad of a feeling about management.

The only all in move that will ever get this team back to the SCF is to trade the sedins and edler for some heart.

i agree. There too nice of guys, nice guys dont win cups.

unless MG gets serious it will be years before we ever get back there.

We are basically a one line team when Kesler is out. And any team could focus and shut down one line easily. Malhotra, Kesler, Raymond, Booth, Kassian and Weise being out does make scoring a bit harder.

Were a 1 line team and that 1 line is playing horribly.

Fire A.V, Hire Ruff or another good coach. Demote Gillis to Assistant GM and hire Burke.

You're so smart.

But Gillis had nothing in place to compensate for injuries.
Everyone knew Manny would potentially be shut down for the year. The only depth center brought in was Ebbet.
In the first week, we saw Booth get hurt for 4 weeks. No one was brought in to pick up the slack. The farm system built by Gillis has produced no viable NHL forwards. That is on the GM.

It is obvious that the weight of impending trades is negatively implacting this team. Luongo is a leader on the team, and everyone knows that he is going to be traded at some point. There is a huge amount of uncertainty as players don't know who or what else might be involved in that trade. It is a huge distraction. The GM can take care of this distraction and has not.

No viable forwards?

Kassian? Hodgson? Schroeder? Even Jensen.

I'm sorry I don't think you can pin us running into injury problems on Gillis. We need a center that's something he has been working non-stop on for awhile.

There is just not much out there for trade right now, and there was even less available at the beginning of the year. Trades aren't easy to make, This isn't NHL 13.

But we have alot of wing depth, and any team facing the injuries we are and have been facing would probably be in the same position. All 29 other teams have needs just like us. And the only ones who have been able to address those are the ones who have been willing to over pay (aside from the GM's who have delt with Calgary  ) So if Gillis is a bad GM because he hasn't been able to make a move, then there are probably about 25 other GM's out there who are just as bad.

they have 3, to win we need 4. math

The score is 3-1. We need 2 to get it to OT/SO. 3 to win.

Math.

We've been a 1 line team for years. Either the Sedins are producing or they're not. Kesler line has always been hit or miss. Rarely do both lines ever produce at the same time.

Actually the facts show that your wrong.

David Booth had scored 3 straight seasons (aside from the one he missed with injury) of 20+ goals and 40+ points prior to us picking him up, including a 30 goal 60 point season. If that's not top 6 production I don't know what is. Your wrong here. He was a top 6 forward when we got him and he would have scored 20 goals and 40 last year too if he didn't get injured.

And I don't possibly see how anyone could have saw Grabner as better than Raymond. Raymond was 23 and had just come off 25 goals and 53 points. Your seriously telling me your going to trade that instead of Grabner who was in and out of the lineup and had proven nothing? Seriously? It was the right move at the time. No one in there right mind would have kept unproven Grabner over what appeared to be trending upward Raymond. And if we didn't make that trade, Grabner would have been cut and waived and lost for free. So yes he had no place on this team.

Edler scored 50 points last year, those are the facts. I wish it were this easy to say now that he is struggling he is worthless and isn't what he showed he was last year. But in the cap world you can't blow people aside that easily and call them garbage. Edler had a great year last year, and showed he is capable of being an all-star defenseman that plays in all situations, can QB the PP, rush the puck, play the PK, be physical and put up big points from the backend. Yeah he has struggled but he gets alot of unfair hate. He's still a good hockey player. Just because a player struggles doesn't mean he totally forgot how to play hockey and is garbage. It's obvious you are Anti-Edler anyways so it is going to obscure your opinion.

I like Edler, but I am staring to think a trade of one of our "core" players might be what this team needs to shake it up a bit. They seem way too comfortable with themselves. Not every team suffers from meltdowns the way these guys do. I think some of that has to do with the team's drive and focus.
Can't rely on your goalie to bail you out every game. At some point you need to score goals, no matter how ugly those goals are.

been like that since they lost 4 of the last 5 games of the SCF
Gillis has had 2 years to fix it and has done nothing.....

Actually, I think Gillis has overdone it to the point where we can't even score. We got Sestito off waivers, traded for Kassian, got rid of Volpatti for Pinizotto and replaced Salo for Garrison all for becoming tough and increasing PIM. I mean, he has brought in crappy fighters but I haven't seen a trade yet for a skilled, finesse guy in a while. No point in fixing toughness, when we can't even score crap.

the booth deal was a gamble to begin with given his concussion. i dont think people were expecting florida numbers at that point

He had scored 20 goals and 40 points the season before we got him, and would have got that last year too had he not been hurt.

He really hasn't been as bad as people here like to think.
