If you were GMMG

Recommended Posts

On April 3rd Mike Gillis phones you and asks you to make all the trades for him at this years deadline,

however there are a few conditions, You can only trade for players that realistically could be moved. No crazy, superstar trades with unlikely candadites (ie. Stamkos for Schneider, Jensen, 1st. rd., & Kesler)

You are allowed to deviate away from the known trading block, however here are the candadites according to TSN:

Forwards:

Player - Position - Age - Height - Weight - Cap Hit - Years Remaining

Ryan Clowe - LW - 30yrs - 6'2 - 225lbs - 3.6 - 0 (UFA)

Tomas Fleischmann - LW - 28 - 6'1 - 192lbs - 4.5 - 2

Jaromir Jagr - RW - 41 - 6'3 - 240lbs - 4.55 - 0 (UFA)

Derek Roy - C - 29 - 5'9 - 184lbs - 4.0 - 0 (UFA)

Mason Raymond - LW - 27 - 6'0 - 185lbs - 2.3 - 0

Defensemen:

Player - Age - Height - Weight - Cap Hit - Years Remaining

Jay Bouwmeester - 29 - 6'4 - 212lbs - 6.68 - 1

Mark Streit - 35 - 5'11 - 193lbs - 4.1 - 0 (UFA)

Ray Whitney - 30 - 6'3 - 206 - 4.0 - 0 (UFA)

Filip Kuba - 36 - 6'4 - 225lbs - 4.0 - 1

Goaltenders:

Player - Age - Height - Weight - Cap Hit - Years Remaining

Ben Bishop - 26 - 6'7 - 215lbs - .650 - 0 (RFA)

Jonathon Bernier - 24 - 5'11 - 186lbs - 1.25 - 0 (RFA)

Mikka Kiprusoff - 36 - 6'1 - 185lbs - 5.833,333 - 1

Roberto Luongo - 33 - 6'3 - 217lbs - 5.333,333 - 9

What trades would you make? If it were me...

Garrison for Clowe

Raymond, 3rd for Bishop

When Healthy:

Sedin - Sedin - Kessel

Ballard - Barker

Schneider

Bishop

i Would acquire Kiprussoff for Luongo

Mikka Kiprusoff is a playoff proven performer, he can carry is team to the cup, that's what we needed for years.

While Luongo is a goalie who can help a non-playoff team become a playoff team, it will be a step in the right way for Calgary.

I'd go:

To Dallas:

Ballard

To Van:

Jagr

To San Jose:

Picks (2nd/3rd)

To Van:

Clowe

Healthy lines with Kesler back would go:

Sedin Sedin Jagr

Clowe Kesler Burrows

Raymond Schroeder Hansen

Higgins Lapierre Jensen/Kassian

Hamhuis Bieksa

Edler Garrison

Barker Tanev

Schneider/Luongo

We would be stacked for a strong playoff run

With Bouwmeester going for a 1st + prospects, and Regehr going for two 2nds.

If I were GMMG, I would get off my butt and try to trade Ballard for a late 1st or early 2nd to some desperate playoff team. Instead of possibly using one of our buyouts this summer and letting him go for nothing....
