How about forum etiquette? Maybe you don't use a phone for this, but it wastes a lot of space when it doesn't need to.

To err is human - but to really screw up you need a computer.

Always listen to experts. They'll tell you what can't be done and why. Then do it.

I see. So you just ignored the content and spouted more of the same tired, old rhetoric that you learned from the School of Zalm...gotcha.

Stop lumping everyone in the same boat so you can just ignore them, it's beneath you.

I am quite familiar with it. And if I ever see it being used here, perhaps I would consider reciprocating.

OMG lunch was so good today, Plus it cost less. Lots of people wanted to talk about how nice it was to finally get a break again and get goods for cheaper once again. It was really nice. It seems the people at the restaurant were really appreciative of the HST being removed. That makes a lot of us.

Oh well, the financially inept will inevitably feel the effects of this the most so no biggie.

Less taxes for going out and on consulting fees never mind the help this will put in crashing the economy is a nice silver lining!

Nope. I make efficient use of my time and resources.

More than sufficient given the exceptionally low quality of responses.

You do realize there is nothing illegal about paying with cash right? There's also nothing illegal about getting a discount for paying with cash too.

You can sign a bill of sale, pay with cash, and you're just as covered as if you paid via cheque or anything else.

Paying cash means there is no bill of sale. No one doing under the table jobs is giving you a receipt. That would be down right imbecilic.

If it is my researched work product it is not spam.

Ok in the spirit of trying to get along with you - let me re phrase that - I would make a suggestion that where you copy/paste pre existing posts on the forum into a mega post that it would be beneficial to some users on mobile devices if such lengthy posts are used within the spoiler capability of the forum. I have zero idea how its done just that I have seen some people use it for mega posts or re quotes and it was very much appreciated. My comments are not a complaint - I did not say trolling or belittle your opinions as posted - I simply made a request to shorten the mega post.

Now back to the question I asked you - without blaming anyone what would be your suggestions on fixing it at this point? The HST as we know it is dead and the horse aint getting any deader - lets move on to the "now what" discussion.

Not much that can be done. We are stuck with a bizarre tax that no one in their right mind would implement today.

And there were a number of people complaining about paying the same for things like haircuts, etc. that should have dropped in price.

And it could have all be avoided if the Liberals just did their job a: in negotiating that 1.6 in the first place and b: by being open and honest about the tax.

It's like talking to a wall but here it is, again;
a. it WAS negotiated with the clear understanding that if the province pulled out it would be on the hook to repay the 1.6
b. Gordon Campbell and his government said he wasn't contemplating introducing the HST before the election and they weren't. Yes, they had researched it and yes the pros and cons were looked at. It was decided that although it was an efficient system the cost to implement was too great. After the worldwide credit collapse of 2008 provincial revenues were severely impacted. This factor is of no small consequence to the budget. It was in fact devastating. They were searching for ways to meet their budget targets without cutting core services in the face of a deteriorating financial situation. Then, Ontario negotiated a deal with Ottawa that would see the feds pay the provinces transition costs. When the BC government learned of this and that the province would have the power to set its own tax rate, to shape the tax regime with flexibility that would allow them to exempt certain goods and services from being taxable, and that the federal government was offering $1.6 billion in "transition funding" to make the change, it decided to adopt the HST. At that point it was announced that British Columbia would move towards a Harmonized Sales Tax,or HST. Seems straight forward and transparent to me.

OMG I laugh at anyone arguing in favor of any tax. We should now focus on getting the PST reduced and preferably gone. How about No PST and No GST. IT's Our money. Your Money. Then you will see job creation.

Just let them elect the NDP, vote down the HST, and borrow their brains out to impress the neighbours.

And when it all blows up in their face they will hopefully learn their lesson this time.

If you know better then you know how to survive the upcoming ****storm and when the chickens come home to roost the power of knowing how math works will kick in.

What taxes do you propose to increase to offset the billions in revenue the PST brings in?
