"I would love to play for him again. And I don't look at Vancouver being that old or having peaked already and on the way down. They have a really good team and missing a huge piece with (Ryan) Kesler. Once they get into the playoffs, whoever plays them will have their hands full."

— Sharks winger Ryane Clowe, a hot trade topic and pending UFA, on his junior coach Alain Vigneault and admiration of the Canucks.

Not a goal this season?

Perfect for AV. Keeps that 0-0 tie going strong! Good defensive hockey.

These players may hate the canucks, it doesn't mean they will have a problem with playing for the Canucks. Canucks were tied for top 5 among teams most players will like to play for with Toronto and New York being the top 2.

It's just like what Ken Hitchcock said last year.

He said something in the lines that teams hate the Canucks because they are good. Mr. Hitchcock reconizes that, and respects the Vancouver Canucks a lot.

Well, I , I feel very good about this draft, but I, I think, potentially you know were gonna have 3 or 4 NHL players out of this group, ummmm, you know like we are not going to prejudice to were they are from.

-Jim Benning June 27, 2015 shortly after the completion of the 2015 NHL Entry draft in Miami Florida.

Maybe Gillis kept AV for another season so Clowe would come to Vancouver :bigblush:

0 goals but hes a playoff down the stretch performer. Still lots of gas in the tank and a fresh start is all he needs.

Would be very happy with the acquisition if it happened. Stats dont tell everything

Team needs a heart trans plant.

Clowe plays like he cares too much sometimes, we need that.

Not quite correct.

AV junior coaching days:

86-87 Trois-Rivières Draveurs
87-92 Hull Olympiques
95-97 Beauport Harfangs
03-05 Prince Edward Island Rocket

Clowe played three seasons in the (QMJHL) with the Rimouski Océanic and the Montreal Rocket:

2000-01 Rimouski Oceanic Head Coach Doris Labonte
2001-02 Rimouski Oceanic Head Coach Guylain Raymond
2002-03 Rimouski Oceanic Head Coach Guylain Raymond
2002-03 Montreal Rocket Head Coach Gilbert Delorme

So yeah, I don't see where Clowe was ever coached by AV either.

Clowe would be an amazing pickup... can't see SJ trading a guy like that to a Western team though.

Yeah, Clowe is pulling someone's leg. Some nice fact checking by the Province though.

The Heart of a Canuck went and watched Rihanna instead of his teammates, i say bring on Clowe.
The fans seem to care more about this team than the players.

probably see Ebbett resigned to a 5 year instead.

I did some research..

Ryane Clowe is an NHL alumni of PEI rockets.
http://www.hockeydb....y.php?pid=55126

The franchise was granted in 1999, however the Rocket were originally located in Montreal, Quebec and called the Montreal Rocket. In 2003 they were relocated to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

List of teams AV coached:
http://www.hockeydb....ay.php?pid=7532

As you can see, AV coached the PEI Rockets (formerly known as Montreal Rockets, 03-04) and Clowe played for them (02-03, Montreal Rockets). I'm guessing AV was hired early 2003 (during season) after a firing/replacement or something, and was there to coach Clowe for awhile.

Hmmm, that's interesting......

Still kind of funny how Clowe words it though. The way Clowe said it makes it sound like it was a lovable coach/player relationship and they went out for din-din every night after the game. :P

Has he said anything about any other team? It seems kind of odd, is he trying to direct a trade to Van?

If the cost is a first and a prospect as being rumored I'd rather pass.

definitely would be a huge snag from a western rival...hard to say if SJ takes the risk....Philly seems like a safer bet for them assuming the rumors are true and the flyers are in play
