timberz21
Higgins can be replaced via UFA for cheaper. Bad $ and bad term, again. And an NTC on top of that, even if its limitied it's non sense.
86Viking
i dont mind the term, but if we are giving him 4 years, and a limited ntc i would have hoped for a cap hit of 2m per or maybe even a little less. But I will take Higgins at 2.5m over david jones at 4m anyday of the week

DownUndaCanuck
His game will probably tail off after next season - 4 years will be brutal and hurt this club badly. 2 year deal max.

Ilya Mikheyev
Eff the haters, I'd be happy if Higgy got 5 years.
Dogbyte
I am aware what a limited NTC is. My point is that the player being able to limit the trading partners ALWAYS means more when the time that you want to trade the guy comes. Higgins is not a guy you give a NTC of any kind to imo. For all you guys saying it is not a big deal, you need to re-think that. The market for trading players is small enough in a cap environment. Dogbyte
A versatile player like Higgins will always be in demand, especially at 2.5 mil. I'm not worried in the slightest. And I'm sure Gillis could find a trade out of 10 teams if it came down to it.
CanucksFanMike
Hopefully this gets officially announced soon..... Really like this signing.
zombieksa
I wonder if Lapierre will be getting an extension shortly after. He has pretty much done exactly what AV has asked of him, even more so with the loss of Manny..

hockeyking
Ya, two years ago wasn't it? Pahlsson (you know the same Pahlsson who sounded pissed about even being traded here) Hodgson for Kassian In two years? Plus Ballard, Luongo, etc. sitting here eating cap space an not playing when the team needs obvious help? Wow ya don't work the phones too hard there Gillis. Honestly, someone mentioned him waiting for the right trade........there is an old saying in business. I am paraphrasing a bit here but something along the lines of a good opportunity today is often better than waiting for the perfect opportunity tomorrow. My old advanced economics professor would have described Gillis' trading "patience" as the definition of opportunity cost.
Bodee
ANOTHER no trade clause and too much term is brutal. Higgins is a decent role player but honestly 4 years is way too long.
Bodee
Higgins has earned every bit of a 4 year 10 million deal, if this turns out to be true (it was still April 1st when it was posted afterall). You know what you're getting with Higgins, and that's 100% all the time, with tenacious puck pursuit and great hockey intelligence. No brainer. MayRay's next. Same deal. Scottish⑦Canuck
$2.5m is a little too much for my liking, but I'm glad if he's being re-signed. One of the only guys who puts in maximum effort every night. ^ Again with the "push back" rubbish...
Your New Coach Mr. Tippett
I don't like the length. Two years would be better. Remember, this guy bounced around BIG TIME. He has only really decided to give 100% (and his 100% isn't great) when he was almost out of a job and out of the league. Being on a short contract is the way to keep him motivated. apollo
Fair numbers ... yet another ntc from mg lol. Limited but still. Glad he's staying... he's a beauty
Edlerberry
Guys, cut Samir some slack. He messed up calling the trade for Luongo like twice. If you had a connection, wouldn't you like to be the first to break the news? He did break the Booth and Hodgson trades, so he obviously isn't sourceless. Time and place, folks. Time and place. Edlerberry
He's def missing play drivers like Kes and Booth. But I think it's more likely he's playing injured right now. Given he missed a game due to his back, it's probably true.
