Why was AV drafted so low?

He was a d-Man in the QMJHL and played four 4 seasons.

Rookie Season - 46 P, 59 GP

Season 2 - 54 P, 72 GP

Season 3 - 64 P, 63 GP

Season 4 - 62 P, 67 GP

Despite 226 points in 261 games has a ???? DEFENCEMAN he was drafted at 167th overall by the St. Louis Blues and only played 42 games in the NHL before retiring.

So really, what was the deal with him being drafted so low? You think numbers like that would guarantee a 1st round selection, especially for a D-Man. Did he have some kind of underlying health issues or something? I just don't see why he would have been drafted at 167th overall and then not given a fair shot.

How do you know he was not given a fair shot? Have you ever considered that maybe he just sucked at the NHL level? Like many other guys who could not translate their junior game to the NHL......

Maybe that's why he hates Ballard........wants to pay someone back who actually could bring an offensive game to the NHL by snuffing that ability out and benching him......;)

Because high-scoring defenseman in the QMJHL is/was nothing special.

The league is a weaker league and the ability of players to score there really doesn't justify his/her 'scoring potential'.

There hasn't seem to be a defenseman from the QMJHL in recent memory that has been able to translate his game to the NHL.
