Legend Killer
Where else is there for him to go? Tampa doesn't need a goalie. Markstrom is gonna hold it down in Florida. Toronto doesn't need a goalie, and Philly isn't gonna take another bad contract. There's only one move that makes us better, and we all know what that is. chrisbanks
there is only 2 people to blame here Luongo and Gillis... Gillis was stupid to sign him to that rediculous contract.. and its Luongos fault hes not the starter... if Luongo was the number 1 he wouldnt want out, he didnt lose his job because Schneids turned into the best goalie in the league , he lost his job because because his play slipped so bad hes not even a top 10 goalie anymore... and when he had a chance to win the crease back with cory struggling he failed at that back... now hes got a contract that a top 3 or 5 goalie would have and hes not even top 10 anymore. he wants to be in the state of florida and stevie Y said last year he wanted nothing to do with that contract and he makes 2x the amount of $ than all 3 panther goalies. and now gary valk is talking like he might just end up in the minors like redden... the only way we trade luongo now is if we take a terrible contract back in return in wich we are still screwed against the cap next year. Luongo couldve made it easier on everyone if he didnt let his back up outplay him and take his job. Now Gillis and Lu are pointing fingers at eachother . Its time we fire the GM and sink luongo in the minors.. either he gets picked up on waivers and we get out of the contract without taking a bad one in return or he hits the minors and earns the rest of his huge contract down their and wont count against the cap.... both options is better than rewarding him with a buyout and letting him play where ever he wants and we get nothing in return. kassians_fist
The truth is Schneider is the one who should have been traded. We are committed to Luongo and that should have been that. Now it's complicated. Hopefully this will work out in the summer. Until then... Lets go canucks!

chrisbanks
I think it's horrible for MG to come out after Lu and say they had been talking about deals with him from multiple teams. There is no reason for Lu to lie and say he had not been approached to wave for anyone, and to say it's a blow to his ego. It's not matching. FFS he said he would scrap his whole contract if he could just play. MG thinks he just needs time to to cool down... pshhh.
lee goren rulez69
Rumour from TSN was that Canucks offered Luongo for Scrivens and picks. You guys can't tell me you'd be happy with that..
Aladeen
1. Won't make any difference whether ntc is waived or not 2. That's not the problem nor the point 3. Stop putting words in mouth. And his contract does kinda suck...but that's not on him.

VanIsleNuckFan
???? I love Luongo but wth why all the bleeding hearts for him? 1. If he was truly desperate to get out of town he could have waived his NTC which would have helped Gillis a lot. 2. He is being paid a sick sick amount of money to practice and stay in shape... not too shabby at all. 3. He needs to suck it up, realize he is not bigger than the team... if it doesn't improve the Canucks why would Gillis trade him, instead of saying his contract sucks he should start playing like he deserves that contract at all - then it would be moot. CaptainKool
Completely delusional. Schneider has never cost the Canucks a cup, Luongo has. Don't play "the team didn't play well"card either, see the games in Boston, then throw that argument in the garbage.
Milk Hot Dog
kinda like how gillis came out with a big rant about hodgson to get the fan base on his side....... no other gm's do this.

Legend Killer
I don't think Luongo has let us down at all, actually. If we were to move forward with him, i'd be completely confident.
cmpunk
I don't feel bad for him at all. He wanted to be the highest paid goalie in the league and thats the only way Gillis could make it happen. I feel bad for Gillis because he believed in Luongo and got let down and now his job is probably on the line. At least Luongo will have $64 million to spend. Vansicle
I'm siding with Luongo on this. Between the term, the cap circumvention, the captaincy, AV changing horses mid-race and the NTC, Gillis has mismanaged this goalie situation in every way possible. I don't blame Lou for feeling so down. It's not Lou's fault. Yes, he's had playoff issues, but he is a world class goalie. His contract dies suck. And yes, he didn't have to sign it, but when he did, he was told he is the main man and captain etc. Why would he have reason to believe this would change two years in? Gillis is the one most responsible for this debaucle. Who on these boards would have turned down the contract Gillis layed out? Tha's right, not a single one. cbdoubleu
I guess now the best thing that can happen is Reimer completely craps the bed this playoffs and it puts more stock in Luo, or Florida becomes a possibility again.
RUPERTKBD
see 8 goals scored in 7 games and throw your post in the garbage, Luongo needed 4 shutouts for us to win the cup
