Something fishy here. I get the feeling that McPhee might know something about the young Forsberg that precipitated this move...

I think the same thing. This trade actually downgrades Forsberg's status. Nashville is terrible at developing forwards. When is the future ever going to arrive for this team? Not any time soon. We are in the age of instant results. I personally would never be a fan of a team that perpetually stuck in 2nd gear like the Preds are. They are an AHL team with two NHL level players (Rinne and Weber).

Forsberg already coming to Nashville next week, they hope to have him in the line-up shortly after.

In context; what your saying is Erat is Nashville's Burrows? Maybe better, with less help...

A perenial 50-60 pt player on the Predators is not chopped liver folks. He's also a player with good underlying numbers (his -7 is misleading) - he's typically a guy who gets less than 50% ozone starts.

Odd deal - Nashville is tied for 8th and give up their top scorer. Yeah, great prospect, but their fans have got to wonder what this says about their management's perception of their potential this season.

Washington is only 3 points out, and buying.

Wow; where's No Heart, bet he could offer McPhee some pressure pills?

Probably pretty simple really...

...that if the team missed the playoffs this year, all levels of the organization would have to be evaluated.

One of the worst trades I've seen in a while. Good job Poile! Forsberg is going to be an absolute beast

What metric are you using for that statement?

Nashville's forward roster is almost entirely made up of their own draft picks and they more routinely trade forwards away than being them in. They don't have any superstar forwards but they know how to make solid NHLers.

They are an expansion team who competes every year without requiring top 10 picks to do it. Calling them an AHL team with two NHL players is just ignorant.

Is that in context C S? That's not really what I said.
What I said is that a guy who puts up 50-60 points, consistently gets under 50% offensive zone starts (41% last year) and puts up the numbers he does, in that role, and in Nashville, is better imo than people in this thread seem to be implying.
I don't know what Forsberg will eventually produce, but Erat is a two way top 6 forward under reasonable contract, and you'e probably not going to acquire a player like him (and a B prospect) without giving up an A prospect.

I can not believe forsberg dropped to 11th, he could have been top 3 easy. Nashville definitely won this trade by a mile

Nashville has no choice.
Five straight losses.
Fallen to 13th in the west.
Traded their top scorer three years running for this youngster.
Better show the fans why.

Erat is garbage. If he's your top scorer your team is going no where.
