I can see them upsetting Chicago.

They play a tough defensive game and Bobrovsky is one of the top goaltenders this season, plus they have a game breaker in Gabby.

Red wings wont have a better chance vs hawks than cbj. If detriot cant even make the playoffs (assumption) then why would they be able to give the hawks a run for their money?

Cbj is a bigger team than detriot and would take a bigger toll on the hawks IMO

Detroit knows how to raise their level of play in the playoffs, and they have a history with Chicago.

Never underestimate the Wings. Howard has been great this year, and Zetterberg and Datsyuk can easily take over a series.

I don't see Gaborik and co stepping it up in the playoffs. This is likely the best they can play right now.

Who knew? Islanders and Blue Jackets making the playoffs the same year? Nice to see some new teams in there for a change, their fans have been waiting for far too long to see if something good will happen. They'll be fun dark horses to root for if they clinch.

Columbus has a better defense they play a game that goes against what Chicago does.

Detroit vs Chicago would be a lot more entertaining and high scoring. If Datsyuk, Franzen and Berg play their best and Howard shuts the door they have a chance.

Really great to see CBJ on playoff position this late into the season. 4-8 are only separated by like 4 points. It's unlikely but I think they could finish as high as 6th.

Columbus Blue jackets = loveable losers.

I can't believe I am seeing this. I can't believe I am seeing people say "i have a soft spot fo them": why? because they suck? Makes me appreciate being hated.

It's not that everyone has a soft spot for them, it's just for that as a team that's been so crappy since they came into the league, having only made one playoff appearance and getting swept, we wanna see teams like that succeed too. Especially when the entire league thinks they suck when they're fighting for a playoff spot. It gives us a shake in the head saying "just because they've been bottom feeders for the past decade doesn't mean that they actually suck" and that "every team in the NHL isn't an easy team to play against"

With the way the Wings are losing I wouldn't be surprised if the Jackets did keep them out of a playoff spot. As mentioned Bob's been on fire but it really depends on how the team does in front of him. Even so, that day (Jackets in, Wings out if it happens) deserves a "history will be made".

It's natural that you always feel bad for those who dwell at the bottom of the league for years, and wish that they atleast prosper every now and then.

Unless they're named the Edmonton Oilers or Calgary Flames of course.

Don't forget Toronto or Gary's personal favorite......Phoenix

Three reasons I want to see Columbus make it to the playoffs:

1. The fans that are dedicated to that team deserve better from that organization.

2. I love it when a star player leaves a team (Nash), that team ends up being better, and the star player's new team (NYR) may not even make the playoffs. I love this.

3. BOBROVSKY!!!!

Heck ya.

Watched the game yesterday, super exciting. I've been on their band wagon for a couple months now. Great young team. You watch them and thinnk ah they're just Columbus but they got a bunch of guys that make stuff happen. Matt Calvert is one of my favorite players to watch, so much heart and he always makes things happen.

BOBROVSKY, how can u not love it.

I can see the Jackets being the Kings of this year if Bobrovski continues to be amazing. They'll give Chicago nightmares.

Also have a soft spot for 'dem homely critters-but hey, they got THREE first rounders this year, with some deadly prospects coming up! Good time to say sayonara & send them boys EAST!

Which begs the question:Should this franchise develop their youth into legit stars, will they have the market/budget to be a cap-spending team, to become an elite squad? Or will they go the Nashville route, periodically auction off some of their stars to stay wedged within upper-mediocrity?

I don't think the league wants markets like Clb to be dominant. Ths corrupt league prefers major US markets are in that position.

Disappointing that the team that is 8-2-0 in their last 10 misses the playoffs while the 4-5-1 team squeaks in.

 :bigblush:

Now their out'I'd like to see Columbus get the roll at the draft lottery...

On a side note; why is the lottery so soon. Teams can't nail bite and float high picks above thjeir value on a chance you can get Seth Jones, or Druin...

I can't wait till they are in the East next year.

It will be great to see them beat out the Leafs for the final few playoff spots in the coming years.
