I always loved hockey but Bure was the reason I started playing. I wanted to be him, not that I ever came remotely close but hey i was a kid and had a dream thanks to him.

Love to see all of the bad blood resolved and this put to rest. His jersey is being retired where it belongs!

That's embarrassing to know that any professional sports team could be run like that, especially the Canucks.

Bottom line is, the ownership at the time just didn't have deep enough pockets to keep Bure. So instead of being honest with him, they screwed him around and made promises to him they knew he couldn't keep.

Thank god we have the ownership we have now that treat players with the utmost respect.

I agree with this. Looking around, in the history of the game, there is no other player like him ever to play the game like that. The closes one is actually Bobby Hull, but anyways, I agree.

For sure one of the deadliest goal scorers to EVER play hockey.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

combine results.  Ehlers 5'11 162 lbs of solid rock.

Heard they will reunite the '94 team next season during his jersey retirement. Also hope they bring back the black, red and yellow jerseys :).

Probably next season. Playoffs are coming, so I don't think they will focus on Bure

Didn't this guy end up not wanting to play for the canucks, and demanded a trade, essentially? Doesn't sound like someone who is a real franchise guy. very good, but I don't know about the jersey retirement if he is demanding a trade out of vancouver at some point.

that was Patrick Roy

I've long been on the fence when it comes to whether his jersey should be retired or not, but it's happening so I'm going to get behind it.

Congrats Bure!

Waaaay too long overdue, but better late than never. Bure's #10 deserves to be up there just as much if not more than the other three.

Pavel Bure is the reason I watched hockey as a kid, he is the reason I fell in love with the game, and will always be one of my favorite canucks. I am so happy that this organization is finally doing what is right and honoring Bure. He was truly a treat to watch growing up and if I ever had the chance to meet him I would tell him without a doubt he is the REASON I am a canucks and hockey fan. I love Bure.

Very exciting for us Canuck fans, never really got to see him in his career since I was very young but he by far was our most skilled and exciting player. If there is one player who didn't play as many games as a "Hall of Famer" should and to get his jersey retired Bure is the only exception.

It's about time. Greatest player to play in Canuck uniform IMO. The opposition was terrified and in awe when Bure blasted through them. All this during the dead puck era, which makes him even more special!

About time. Huge reason I became a Canuck fan; the guy was a threat to do something special every time he hit the ice.

Bure defied the stereotype that Russians didn't play with heart in the playoffs.
