nuckin_futz
Like the title says, if you could trade draft picks for cash what would they be worth? Assume it's legal to do so. Or at the very least the trade could be dressed up as the 1st overall pick for a 6th round pick + cash, to make it legal. Anyway just imagine that it would not be an issue. Put aside that this will never happen and assume it's possible. Let's say the team holding the #1 overall selection in the draft has chosen to sell it. Assuming the consensus top player available is projected as a future franchise player/all star. What do you think it would it be worth in dollar terms? Considering the future revenue this type of asset could bring in the future. Also, what would high picks in the subsequent rounds be worth in cash? Caboose
To get Drouin on my team I'd pay whatever I could. Imagine if someone went balls out for Patrik Stefan however

Tom Sestito
we should sell the team to a russian billionaire and stock up on like 10 second round picks if theyy were only 1 m
The Magician
A team like Phoenix who isn't doing to well money-wise had the 1st overall pick they could start a bid at $30 million and every team in the NHL could go in on it. That could be cool.
