NHL Player Safety@NHLPlayerSafety
Anton Volchenkov suspension video. http://bit.ly/YfBcRq

It's absolutely an elbow and a dangerous play, but the actual contact is glancing at best. Marchand absolutely sold it. Haven't heard anything on an actual injury to Marchand today, but perhaps we will now that the suspension has been handed down.

EDIT:

Boston Bruins@NHLBruins
Coach addressing media now pregame, said Marchand "was being reassessed by doctors this morning, so we'll have an update later today"^CS

In related news:

Joe Haggerty@HackswithHaggs
Claude Julien said he was going to deal w/ non-reaction to the Marchand hit "internally": "I don't throw my guys under the bus" #BruinsTalk
Claude Julien didn't wanna throw players under the bus but admitted past B's teams would've responded to Marchand hit
Andrew Ference on reaction to Marchand hit: "Regardless of what happened, part of having a team identity isnt about talk. Its about actions"

You can only hope for brain damage on this puke. Even his own father has mentioned to him he plays too close to the edge. These guys always seem to get it sooner or later. Nice clean hit.

Lol this was not clean at all.

Not a bad judgement. I though 2 or 3 would have been enough.
I'm sure most of the folk here will see it as outrageous though.

That's more what I expected based on the actual contact he made. It wasn't a clean play by any means, just that it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

It's reading the posts in this thread that makes you understand why people hate Canuck fans.
Guy annoys us: "I hope he gets brain damage!"
Keep it up guys

Annoy? He has done a lot more than annoy. I'm sorry but I find it hard to feel sympathy for a guy who deliberately hurt Salo and then blamed Salo. After that incident I just haven't been able to feel sympathy for the guy.

This clown makes Byfuglien and Bolland look like Saints.

Has anyone heard from Jack Edwards yet or is he still crying about the hit?

Volchenkov was just getting Marchand before Marchand bent down and took him out with a "hip" check. League would be a better place without weasels like Marchand.

See, this is why teams need TOUGHNESS. If the Bruins only had some tough guys on their team, they wouldn't have to worry about their top offensive players getting taken out.

Right...?

I usually don't hate players in the NHL, because I understand the roles players play and some of them are to get under the skin of opposing players. However Marchand is the one player I despise and was happy to hear he got elbowed. Of course he will be fine, but I can honestly say that I wouldn't be at all upset if that ended his career.

I wouldn't be upset if Marchand sat out 4 games due to upper body injury.

No, Burrows and Lapierre annoy people, Marchand and Cooke hurt people. As far as I see it this guy already has brain damage seeing how much he tries to hurt people. Managment will probably hold out Marchand one-two games so he doesn't further embarass the organization by being such an obvious a diver.

Diver.

Our boys got though much harder hits to the head then that. What a Diver. He better not show up for the next game.

Players Nikolaj Ehlers have been compared too by the fan base of the Vancouver Canucks.

1 Pavel Bure

2 Markus Naslund

3 Nathan Mackkinon

4 Jonathan Drouin.

5 Jonathan Tavares

While I tend to agree that Marchand is a punk, I don't wish injury on any player and this thread makes me sick to see how many posters are glad he got hit and wish his career was ended. Seriously, have a little bit of class people!
NOW...
Here is a question for you guys, if Marchand is such a dirty player (and yes, he can be) what do you all think of Torres? His hits on Palmieri, Hejda, Berglund, Eberle, Seabrook, Hossa and others was nothing but plain and simple head hunting. Would people on here defend Torres if someone took him out with a brutal hit to the head just because he used to be a Canuck? I am curious....
(as much as I despise Torres, I still don't wish injury on any NHL player)

Im not one to ever wish injury upon a player, but Marchand is the exception for me. I wouldn't lose sleep if became a vegetable. I wouldn't cheer for it, but if it happened....oh well.

I don't wish injury on any players either, but there are a few where I could care less if they go down, this rat being one of them, I love hockey to the core and I hold respect and honour in high value and players like Marchand are a disgrace to the game.

Posted this in the other Volchenkov thread and I think it is worth reviewing the collection of elbows from this year that received 0-2 games suspensions.

For all of you who said this was worth 4 games lets take a look at other elbows from this year that got less games

As expected that rat 🐭Marchand🐭 is playing tonight. Another Bruin playing possum in order to get the other player suspended longer.

I wish we still had the ripper to squash that rat back during the Finals.
