Wetcoaster
We are just a couple of hours into the campaign and Adrian Dix has been forced to withdraw official BC NDP support for a nominated candidate in the riding of Kelowna-Mission. BC NDP candidate Dayleen van Ryswyk has been jettisoned for derogatory remarks she made back in 2009 about First Nations people and French speaking Canadians after the BC Liberals outed her. In the Liberal news release, MLA Mary Polak called for Dix to immediately fire Van Ryswyk as a candidate. “Ms. Van Ryswyk has made unacceptable and hateful statements against First Nations and French speaking Canadians. There is no place in British Columbia for that type of language,” said Polak in the news release. “Adrian Dix should immediately terminate her nomination.” http://www.bcliberals.com/news/in-the-news/adrian-dix-must-immediately-fire-ndp-candidate-in-kelowna-mission In 2009 on a Castanet blog Ms. Van Ryswyk wrote: It’s not the status cards, it’s the fact that we have been paying out of the nose for generations for something that isn’t our doing. If their ancestors sold out too cheap it’s not my fault and i shouldn’t have to be paying for any mistake or whatever you want to call it from MY hard earned money. It’s time our generation stopped paying for the mistakes of the past…let us all be one people…THE SAME.. race, creed colour or gender shouldn’t matter anymore in this day and age…enough is enough already. The government is nothing more than a big black hole that feeds off the working man, sucking his last penny from his hand so they can give it away freely or lose it stupidly on things like fast ferries and about a zillion other stupid things. In my opinion, we have paid our debt…a thousand fold..it’s time to move on, heal and grow. If the native people are to be the proud nation they keep talking about, then stand on your two feet and hold your heads high. There are a lot of things to be proud of, stop dwelling on the past. Because like the economy…the gravy train bubble will eventually burst too. Seems the only group of people universally hated around the world other than the Americans are the french and FRENCH CANADIANS…the bigots are the french and not us…. I’m getting so sick of having french stuffed down my throat…this isn’t Quebec…it’s western Canada…we speak english here….why are we forced to have it at our western Canadian hosted Olympics? Here is a photo of her... she should have been fired for that hair style. Luckily for her it seems the BC Racist Bigot Party has not yet nominated a candidate in that riding so at least she has somewhere to go. The New Democratic Party has been forced to dump one of its candidates, less than two hours into the provincial election. In a short written statement, NDP leader Adrian Dix said he had been “made aware of unacceptable comments made by Kelowna-Mission NDP candidate Dayleen van Ryswyk.” “I have accepted Ms. Van Ryswyk’s resignation. A new BC NDP candidate will be announced shortly,” he continued in the brief statement. The decision came after the BC Liberal Party sent a news release detailing the following comments Van Ryswyk made about First Nations and French speaking Canadians in 2009 on a Castanet community blog. http://blogs.vancouversun.com/2013/04/16/ndp-dumps-candidate-over-unacceptable-comments/ Sounds like the candidate vetting process was not fully operational for the BC NDP. Wetcoaster
Mike Smyth @MikeSmythNews 1h NDP background checks didn't catch fired candidate's online comments. Liberal checks did. Not first time NDP vetting has failed. Mike Smyth @MikeSmythNews 1h NDP says party's equity quota will not apply to replacement candidate. Straight white able-bodied old men may apply. #bcpoli

Harbinger
the liberals should have waited the 10 days before they brought this up. Now the NDP has time to find another candidate for the riding.

J529
So did anyone here watch Christy Liberals Pre-Election Special on Sunday? Watching news the other night and a reporter asked 30 people in downtown Victoria and not one of them watched it. I did happen to watch it. Pretty much the same old message that she was spewing about all the good she and her party have done in 12 years and what will happen if the NDP takes power. What I found rather amusing is how miniorities was flaunted in the special. Looks like Christy and her bunch didn't learn anything from the Ethnic Scandal. So much for them apologizing, being sorry and meaning it. Not that I expected it. Pamela Martin appeared in the special with Liberal propaganda. She was involved in the Ethnic Scandal. Why has she not re-signed or been fired?

Harbinger
The scandal that never happened? BTW - It was riveting TV. For those unfortunate enough to have missed it and not even PVR'd the program (and you know who you are), here you go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAbqch4pUBw
Wetcoaster
No one cared on sunday about what the leader of the scandal plagued liberals had to say. Welcome to two days later when no one still cares.
