The #Canucks have called up defenseman Derek Joslin from Worcester. Vancouver loaned Joslin to Worcester at the AHL trading deadline.

News1130 Sports@News1130Sports 1m
The Richmond Hill, Ont native will make his Canucks debut with Kevin Bieksa injured. Van signed Joslin as free agent last summer for depth.

Bieksa must be worse for wear than we thought

Alberts or Barker hurt? Or ballard in doghouse.

Kevin Fiala will be a star.

This guy was terrible in the Wolves games I watched during the lockout. Why not give Vandermeer, Sauve or even Corrado a shot?

Edited by Derek Roy, 17 April 2013 - 08:06 AM.

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Joslin is very, very mediocre in the Wolves. He uses his body and that is about it.

He was actually pretty good in Carolina. Was probably unmotivated in the AHL

It's probably cause Jim Vandermeer doesn't have the skating ability to even consider playing him on the right side. His skating is awful like Cam Barker. All you have to do is give him the inside-outside and he's beat on the right side.

Nucks need more Right Handed Defencemen. It will be their Achilles Heel as other teams expose this weakness.

So what you're saying is that AV will probably give him 18 minutes of ice time and bench Ballard then.

Typical CDC

last night the replay shows Barker get picked by Backes and this fan base still crucifies Barker.

its cool around here to hate players on your own team and pump negativity 24-7.

Honeslty, I feel the whole right-handed defencemen thing is overblown nowadays when just a few years ago, among the fanbase and media, there was never talk about "sided" defencemen. There's ways around a lefty playing the right side such as the forwards supporting down low for the reverse.

While that may be true, I did watch a number of the Wolves games before the season started back up, and he wasn't very good. Worse, he seemed to bring down whoever he was partnered with (like Connauton at points). I don't have a lot of faith in him being able to come up and do more than Ballard or Barker from what I've seen.

Corrado might be over his head, but why not give him a shot? He's at least right handed where Joslin is a lefty. Even then, I'd rather Andersson come up (also left handed but plays the right side, is he injured right now though?) than Joslin so we give our prospects a chance to see a game or two. They can't be worse than Joslin in limited minutes.

If this team lets go of Sang he will burn this team next year.

I would say Corrado shouldn't be rushed in to the NHL before he plays some AHL games. It looks like Vandermeer is not an option, or they know what he gives them and want to see what someone else can do. Sauve is a lost cause at this point.

Nope, there's no more recall waivers in the new CBA. If there were, Joslin would also be subject to them.

Yah cause he always has the option of superstar Norris winning defencemen that he makes healthy scratches just to play those plugs  You can only use what you're given.

True...BUT from listening to TEAM 1040, all of Canucks left-handed Defencemen have all said that they are more comfortable playing the left side and prefer to play that side. If you are uncomfortable playing the right side...chances are you are more prone to make mistakes. Look at this season...and you can see the Nucks need more right handed defencemen.
