Butcher
This year's edition of the Penguins isn't even the best team in THEIR franchise's history, let alone the entire NHL's. Lemieux>Crosby Jagr>Malkin Francis>Iginla Coffey>Letang Trottier>Kunitz
Butcher
The Flames of the 80's had some big time names, however poor management didn't help their cause. Ray Canuck
Era's can't be compared IMO Folks can really only judge the teams they've watched and even then our minds play tricks with us... you know the older I get he better I get / it was etc
-AJ-
Best team by far, 1976-77 Canadiens, though I'm not sure if they were the most talented/skilled. The '84 Oilers and early 90s Penguins were pretty boss too.
Riviera82
The Flyers of '74, '75, and '76 were pretty outstanding too. They would've had 3 straight cups if the they hadn't run into the Canadiens dynasty.
pavel berezin
From what I've seen, I'd say the Penguins team with Mario Lemieux, Ron Francis, Jaromir Jagr and Paul Coffey. Lemieux alone was unbelievably skilled. He looked like he was playing at a different level than anyone else, like a man among boys... he even looked bored most of the time as he was setting up and scoring goals. Ron Francis was a terrific passer, and Jaromir Jagr was (and is) an incredibly skilled playmaking winger who could slow the game down. The Red Wings with Steve Yzerman, Sergei Federov and company was probably the second most talented. More exciting and skilled teams: Anaheim Mighty Ducks with Steve Rucchin centreing Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne, the Canucks with Brendan Morrison, Todd Bertuzzi and Markus Naslund. And last but not least that Canucks team of just a few years ago with Mikael Samuelsson, Sami Salo, and that wicked third line of Malhotra, Torres & Hansen. Ahh memories... VanNuck
The 1980s Oilers hands down all out winner of that category, followed by -The 1970s Canadiens -The 1960s Canadiens -The 1980s Islanders
frazzY
80's oilers had all the firepower but they would have to out score their opponents. Grant Fuhr was great but he was no Billy Smith. Paul Coffey was a great offensive defenseman but was no Denis Potvin defensively. The 80's Islanders would beat you 3-0 2-0 4-1, as opposed to the oilers 8-5 7-4 9-6. Its close, but as far as a COMPLETE TEAM. I think the Islanders dynasty takes the cake So IMO 1) 80's Islanders 2) 80's Oilers 3) 70's Canadiens
