Van40
Would fit perfectly on the 3rd and could easily transition onto the 2nd line. Big 6'5 guy and a unrestricted free agent at the end of the year. 4 year 18 million??? What do you guys think? Personally I prefer him over re signing Derek Roy. Team needs to get bigger. Enough of the lightweight Raymonds and Ebbets of the world!
Van40
6'3 and 4 year 14 million sounds better
Avicii
4.5 Million? I'd rather go at 5 for Roy. No, team's don't have to get "bigger", you know what we need? Skill. Crosby is 5'11 and dominates the league. You wanna know why? Because he has skill, all that "big" crap is just beyond stupid. You know what hurts more than a punch to the face? Being scored on in Game 7 during overtime.
Pears
Would love to get Berglund. If we can sign him and keep Roy that would be amazing

Lancaster
So... you want to sign a 3rd liner for 4.5 million instead of a 1B-type centre for 5 million?
Apples
He would be a great 3rd line shutdown centerman. Alot of potential, but I think he will stay in St.Louis

Lancaster
Derek Roy is again small and he's a 2nd line center. With Hank and Kes what's the point of Derek Roy prototypical 2nd line center playing a shutdown type of role. Patrick Berglund provides size, more 3rd line experience and the ability to move up and play on the second line if needed. We need to follow the trend and get another big top 9 player. Im not saying I want 9 big 6'3 skaters but getting a little bigger and grittier can't hurt. Teams will not go after the Sedins and get away with it. Kes won't have to play the role guys like Kassian should be playing.
Van40
Hansen and Higgins don't intimidate anyone. We gotten outmuscled in our last 3 playoff exits. Now if AV isn't going to play the 4th line then adding a little size cant hurt. Why are most CDC GMs intent on keeping a small skilled team? We could have a big skilled team! I like Roy but instead of giving him the 5 million why not give Berglund (24 yrs old) 4 mill!?

Van40
Wow cdc loves small teams I guess. Watching a soft team is plenty fun I guess....Can only dream of guys like Ryan Clowe playing on this team.

mrsasaki
Berglund is a solid 3C, but not nessecarily needed for this team. He's good defensively and has some offensive potential. But no, he doesn't use his size as effectively as he could
Drouin
Isn't Lain 6"6 ? With the cap going down next season, we should let him have a shot at the roster instead of using 4.5m for a 3rd liner. Maybe use some of that on Tanev/Raymond/Lappy.
Van40
Having big guys in general is kind of what I was pointing at. I do get your point though. Some size youth and scoring is what I'm ultimately saying.
conrad@Victoria
I've been wanting Berglund on this team for a while, but only at a decent value. If we're talking similar contract numbers I think Roy brings what we need to the table, which is playmaking on a team who primarly shoot first (Outside the first line of course).
