Kassian gets an important goal. But he was only allowed on the ice by AV because Burrows had just finished a PK. It doesn't matter if he scores a goal or craps the ice, AV had already decided before the game that no matter what happens that its straight back to the 4th line and meager minutes. 8:44. I hardly saw the 4th line in the third. This is how AV destroys young minds. Kassian needs to play. He needs to hone up for the playoffs. Its almost as if AV's plan is to ignore Zack until the playoffs, then on one of AV's bizzare hunches he'll be thrown in with the twins one night and be expected to instantly shine.......or ride the pine.
Young players with innate talent like Kassian need to be nutured along. Build confidence by rewarding them with more minutes. He scored a goal and then hardly saw the ice after. As if he were being benched for it. These multi dimensional games AV plays with some young rookies heads isn't helping.
It actually is due to AV's ego being huge
I've said i before, AV enjoys hamming it up with the media more than building up his youth.
When Kas scored that late goal against the Oilers, he made it a point to say that that goal was meaningless...
wtf? why would anybody on the same side say that let alone the effing coach? way to reward and motivate your young guys.
This is a common theme with AV. When AV has a choice between shining in front of the media or privately helping his player, he will always take the media spotlight.
Another example, Hodgson getting cut from camp. Everyone knew that Hodgson played poorly and didn't deserve to make it. Hodgson then said his back was hurting and AV then responds to the media that he's using it as an excuse...
WTF AV? same team?
How about you tell it like it is without the head games and tell the media he wasn't playing well enough to make the roster but if he goes down and plays well, he might have a shot later in the year? Why get into your players head and talk about making up excuses etc?
AV is a dick plain and simple.
