Same thing happened with Mike smith in Phoenix...took Sean Burke to tweak his game. I believe Melanson got Schneider to the next level also. the importance of chemistry between goalie and coach can't be understated.

I like using 5.3m of capspace instead of letting it ride the pine.

If Lu was traded in this very short season and Schnieds gets injured...who would back him up?

MG did his best, but he did right by the team by retaining Lu for the season and now the playoffs.

It would have been an unmitigated disaster if Schnieds went down and we had no capable back up.

And guess what? You and the Whiner Canuck \Nation would have crucified MG for pushing for a trade giving away an elite NHL'er for draft picks.

And btw, Lu's cap hit is meaningless. It does not whatsoever hamper this team.
