GM MEETINGS

Question to the GMs of CDC reconnected.

Should we look into SIMMING the entire playoffs each season in one day?

Reason being. We have only a few months before NHL14 hits the shelves. CHI loves to watch playoff games etc. However in my first league we would SIM the entire playoffs in one shot which allowed us to complete a season in 14 days, as opposed to 17-19.

If we did this we could get about 7 seasons in, which would allow picks to

develop etc.

I leave it to the membership and the BOG to decide.

Regards,

Stan H Bowman

(added from Skype chat - Subject: PLAYOFF SIM)

The thinking behind the Playoffs being simmed (in the other league) was that we take the most time to GM and build the teams during the regular season where you can scout games see how your team of players are doing and then make necessary adjustments, because trades and free agency is still open, and offseason obviously needs the time for Trading, Re Sign, FA, Draft.

Where Playoffs is a Coaching based task, and the thinking behind our simming the entire playoffs was, that many GMs don't set lines and by simming, each GM new how their teams all measured up on a level playing field - meaning no cheating was guaranteed, and everybody was in the same boat when it comes to lines. The 2 biggest benefits being the season is much faster, but the GMing Tasks don't take a hit, which being faster, more seasons get in and therefore the GMs can see more extended development cycles of their rosters and drafted players so true builds and architecting of teams can be realized, as opposed to a bevy of FA and Trade built teams having the only shot. Which keeps greater interest in the league for a longer period of time, and legitimizes somewhat the Cup Counts etc.

Nobody loves watching the playoffs than me, but since we have only a few more months of GMing with NHL13 I thought a 14 day season would get us 2-3 more seasons which would mean a ton for the teams who will begin there rebuilds this offseason or the next (Vet laden teams) otherwise we could very well find ourselves with a 5-6 GM'd Team league, as rebuilding will have little value depending on how many seasons the BOG estimates us going. 5 seasons tops with 19 days, 7 maybe 8 seasons (if we start now) with 14day seasons..?
