Gillis on Team1040 -April 24th-

Schneider: It's minor. If tomorrow was a playoff game, he might play it

Juice and Ballard: Might play tomorrow, probably Saturday

Tanev: Walking boot might be off / skating in a few days

Corrado: Should have been on world junior team. Really good season, does a lot well. Only one game, but isn't surprised he fit in. Willing to burn off entry year of contract if it helps Canucks

Who he like to play in first round: Would like to stay in timezone, but it doesn't matter. It's going to be hard no matter what.

About Kes and Roy playing on same line: Depends on the situation, have to take some pressure off the Twins. Need to generate secondary scoring. Kes needs to play with good players to get him going.

About Rivermen: They've talked to a number of cities about moving there. Taking the next few weeks to find the best place. Been trying to buy an AHL team since Gillis got to Vancouver. 6 or 7 places they could go. Talking to a couple cites in the Northwest.

Schroder: He's coming up for playoffs

Sorry if it's kinda messy. I just typing as he was talking.

For those of you that are unable to listen to it I will provide a script for key parts [Obviously there is more in writing but more or less key points]

Note*

MS= Matt Sekeres, BP= Blake Price, MG= Mike Gillis

MS: Tell us about severity of CS injury

MG: Cory will be fine

BP: does tanev wearing a boot tell us he is fairly far away

MG [ A LAWYER ANSWER]: Boot is helping to stabilize his ankle. Imagines he would skate next couple of days and go from there.

MG: Expects Ballard and Juice to play Saturday

Talking about Cannata/Corrado now

Will note one thing. You wont see this on transcripts or w/e have you but Schneider injury maybe slightly more than minor. When one of the hosts asked if CS would start if game 1 was tomorrow Gillis didnt really give an answer and the answer he did give seemed closer to no than yes ( a little bit of a lawyer answer I know)

And AV just confirmed this hunch/fact

Jason Botchford@botchford1m

Could Schneider play if this was the a playoff game? AV: I don't think so

A few summaries, but was typing mine up as it went along as well:

  • Schneider injury: not very severe, he'll be fine, will take tomorrow off, perhaps could start if this was playoffs but they haven't discussed that

  • Tanev injury: not any further away, wearing the boot still just to stabilize the injury, will probably skate in the next few days

  • Bieksa and Ballard: skated today, close to returning, could maybe play next game but most likely Saturday

  • Luongo being still here: knew this kind of scenario could be a possibility, with Lack getting hurt that removed our third goalie and changed the scenario

  • Cannata: played very well in Chicago and has been good, is big, plays big, plays a simple, athletic game

  • Corrado: wasn't surprised by his debut, should have made the WJ team, still surprised he didn't when a number of people felt he should have, does a lot of things well, skates well, thinks well, clarified that both reg and playoff games count to 6 games burning a year of his deal, projecting him as a player that will compete for a spot next year anyway so not that concerned about burning a year, depends on how he does next couple of games and how long it takes Tanev to come back plus other injuries they may face

  • Travel/playoff opponent: staying in West is always better, but doesn't matter who you face it'll be a tough series regardless

  • PP/PK: Kesler adds a new dimenson to the PP with his RH shot, did struggle for a period but teams are fairly close and can't underestimate missing a big piece like Kesler

  • Roy: depends on opponent and stuation, need to take some weight off of Sedins, Kesler's had a lot of time off so need to get him back 100% and had talked about using Roy like that, helps if Lapierre can play that way with Kassian, etc.

  • AHL team: until Abby/Flames agreement changes, we won't go there, not sure if Peoria will be next year's locaton, going through a number of proposals for location, it's an advantage owning own team since a separate ownership has more control over roster and we're limited in how they control it, we've been trying to buy an AHL team for 5 years since he arrived to get that control, Peoria still an option and we have a month to go through remaining options, 6 or 7 that make sense, some being cities in Northwest rather than just out East

  • Schroeder: will be coming up as one of the players from the Wolves to support in playoffs
