A.V. Has to experiment 2 things in these two meaningless games. First he has to get Kassian on the Sedin line and see what he can do... Cause if we play the Blues its going to be a war. Get Kassians confidence up. He gets fired up playing with the Sedins from what I can see. Burrows should have a game or two with Kesler and see what they can do together. Second thing is get 3 solid lines going. Henrik,Kesler,Roy,Lappy as the centers... Thats what should be in A.V.s head right now..

If Sedin-Sedin-Kassian continues to work it would be absolutely beast to have Burrows-Roy-Kesler as a shutdown line in the playoffs.

Totally agree. Need someone out with the Sedins that can defend them. We all know the opposing teams are going to try top run the Sedins and get them rattled. Also, Roy does need to play center, he looks lost on the wing.

1. 2 lines that can score atleast.
2. Shutdown lines is what make teams successful and win Stanley Cups.

Schroeder isnt going to cut it against teams like LA or the Blues. In a few years maybe when hes physically matured but hes
still a weakiling compared to guys like Backes and Kopitar... good luck with that match up on the road.

Sorry for going off topic but OP, you should have used the name "messiers spear to the junk." That was his much more effective go-to move. ;)

I like Lappy as forth line center but maybe hes capable if he can sustain his amazing play the last game or two.

Indeed. Lappy's line will be key all playoffs.

AV will have fun matching the top 3 lines.

Messier played in an era where if you werent cheating you werent trying. That includes spearing opponents junk and almost killing
poor Mike Modano, with a wwf randy savage elbow.

Daniel - Henrik - Kassian <-- Primary scoring
Higgins - Roy - Kesler <-- Secondary scoring and two-way line
Burrows - Lapierre - Hansen <-- TRUE shutdown/agitating/energy line
Raymond - Schroeder - Booth <-- Tertiary scoring with tremendous speed

Sedins - Burr (These guys just own everyone.)
Roy - Kesler - Higgins (Each have the ability to create their own chances and finish.)
Hansen - Schroeder - Raymond (Fast, fast, fast. Enough skill to score goals and not be a defensive liability.)
Kassian - Lappy - Pinnizotto (These three will have monstrous hits all game long.)

Ham - Juice (I don't want to split up Garry and Hammy but now that Corrado is in the lineup, everyone can play their proper side.)
Edler - Tanev (Solid pairing. Safe defensively and can contribute offensively.)
Garrison - Corrado (Ultimate shutdown line. Big hits and solid passing.)

I wouldn't mind keeping Hamhuis and Garrison together but then Corrado would be out because Juice and Tanev both play the right side.

While I liked your defensive pairings its hard to put a cup run faith in a 1 game player like Corrado

No. The Canucks aren't even in the same realm as these other teams. They aren't even close to being good enough to make the playoffs. They'll be off by around 10 points.

Yeah but look how well the undrafted Tanev played for us in our previous cup run.

If Corrado can just play a safe game, he'll be fine.

Well I'm not going to quote lines because quite honestly, who can predict AV's team selections.

What I would say is I was impressed with Schroeder's eye for a killer pass and if he was to centre Raymond and Hansen on the 3rd it might be lethal. After all they did well at the start of the season.

Ebbet is a real trier but he lacks speed and definitely lacks Schroeder's hockey sense. I don't know what Schroeder is like as a person but all I think he needs, even at his size is to "play bigger" and be more aggressive. If he has that in him, now is the time to show it.

You can't just say because one guy did something another with a similar background is going to be the same. That's not really logical.........

We already tried Kassian with the twins. It went well for about a ten game stretch or so but for some odd reason AV put an end to that experiment prematurely.

If Kassian clicks with the sedins we would be rocking.
Sedin Sedin Kassian
Raymond Kesler Burrows
Higgins Roy Hansen
Pinnizoto Lappierre Weise

These lines are so perfect. 3 very dangerous scoring threats. 3 very capable shutdown lines. Each line has a good balance of speed and muscle. It's perfect. Plus we have got some good players on reserve.

Seriously? People actually consider Schroeder as a playoff option? And exactly what the you know what has Raymond done the last month or more to warrant second line consideration?

The same brainiacs with these ideas will be the same guys hollering for AV's head when that lineup gets swept aside in the first round.

I thought for sure this thread would be about playing Ballard as a forward. It looks like AV is definitly not afraid to experiment before playoff time.

It didn't go well. Kassian was scoring, but the twins were well behind their normal pace. They didn't get back to their usual form until they were reunited with Burrows.

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!
