Lapierre should get a turn with the Sedins

If you mean moving up to the 3rd line, then yes. If you mean moving on up to the top two lines, then no.. lol Lappy should have been our 3rd line center all season long, but for some weird reason he's been stuck on the 4th line. Next season I hope we re-sign Lappy and put him on the 3rd and we get a fourth line center that can be gritty and win faceoffs.. Konopka anyone, and Stoner for let's say Ballard? Yes, it could work! :excl::excl:

Lapierre has been highly effective as a replacement player when Daniel's been injured. The Lapierre-Henrik-Burrows line produced quite well in 2011-12. But Sedin-Sedin-Lapierre has been equally ineffective. I'm not exactly sure why, other than the fact that Henrik plays a different game when he's without Daniel from what he does when they're together.

The stats are pretty clear, however, and without posting a bunch of numbers, suffice to say that Henrik+Lappy=good and Daniel+Lappy=bad.

OK, I can't just leave it at that. For those who enjoy looking at the actual numbers, please open the following spoiler:

5v5 WOWYs from the 2011-12 Season (only year where Lapierre played significant minutes with the twins):

Lapierre's overall numbers (5v5): 812:53 TOI, 0.591 GF20, 0.714 GA20, 45.3 GF%, 15.01 CF20, 18.60 CA20, 44.7 CF%

Lapierre with Henrik (5v5): 63:45 TOI, 2.196 GF20, 0.314 GA20, 87.5 GF%, 17.88 CF20, 16.31 CA20, 52.3 CF%

-so basically, over about 4 games worth of EvTOI, Lappy and Henrik were on-ice for 6 goals-for and only 1 goal-against

-of those 6 GF, two were scored by Lappy and he assisted on two others

Lapierre with Burrows (5v5): 82:48 TOI, 1.932 GF20, 0.483 GA20, 80.0 GF%, 19.32 CF20, 15.70 CA20, 55.2 CF%

-Lappy and Burr, when playing together, were on-ice for 8 goals-for and only 2 goals-against (over roughly 5-6 games worth of EvTOI)

-of those 8 GF, Lapierre scored two and assisted on three

Lapierre with Daniel (5v5): 32:16 TOI, 0.000 GF20, 0.620 GA20, 0.00 GF%, 14.88 CF20, 19.83 CA20, 42.9 CF%

-Lappy and Daniel are on-ice for zero goals-for and one goal-against (over roughly two games worth of EvTOI)

-obviously, that means that Lappy went pointless (0G, 0A) during his minutes with Daniel

For all of Lapierre's 2011-12 Even Strength (5v5) WOWY stats, see: http://stats.hockeya...2011-12&sit=5v5

There's no doubt he has hockey sense. He'd be one of the first Canucks i'd take if I were playing street hockey, no doubt (probably after Burrows :P). There is skill, but he also has the ability to be inconsistent and this season especially, mostly a liability.

He is a playoff performer, can be clutch. He was playing his best hockey in Montréal and can still be a 3rd line center. Brings energy, hits, can score. Just don't expect him to be with Sedins, even though if you want to build depth around the whole 4 lines it wouldn't be a bad idea. Especially since Edm game is meaningless, but D.Sedin is not dressing.

Yes, I know he's a centre, but we've seen Roy play on the wing despite specifically being acquired to play centre. And the team had its best game recently so keep that lineup, but this is in case of injuries.

Lapierre's been a better player during the playoffs than the regular season. The Sedins can generate scoring chance with anybody, and they need players that can bury these chances.

For example, Kassian has played with everyone in our lineup, and he's been average to terrible with anyone but the Sedins.

Lapierre has a very good shootout record (6/11 career, 3/4 in his last four), which makes me think he could do a decent job at burying chances. He agitates, he's physical, and he can be clutch. He's at least worth a look with the Sedins in the future.
