Curse of the 3rd line center?

over the past few years henrik has been our #1 and kesler has been our #2. Yet we have had a ton of 3rd line centers. Guys like wellwood, hodgson, ebbett, schroeder, lapierre, malhotra, pahlsson and even roy for a bit.

Why are we unable to have a stable 3rd line center, is it a problem with the management, or have we just gotten unlucky? This position is starting to look the the dark arts job at hogwarts.

We had the perfect 3rd line center in Malholtra, who would still be there were it not for a freak injury. It's a hole Gillis still needs to fill, and something he should have done a long time ago but hopefully will this offseason.

Manny was the perfect third line centre until he got injured.....

Anyway it's tough to find a good permanent third line centre since you will get promote to the second line if you are too good for it, or you will not be re-sign if you aren't good enough. It's pretty rare to find a third line centre that fits so perfectly like manny :(

What happens with the bottom 6 will be predicated on who they face and what has been scouted of the opponent.

I think AV will be hesitant on starting the 4th line (assuming Ebbet will pivot there) in the o-zone, unless Ebbet can be matched to have a greater chance of winning the draw. Or he may just do what he has done in the past, send Kes/Lappy out to win the draw in the o-zone and then change after possession.

I am going to go with the assumption that Lappy will center the 3rd and be a hybrid shutdown/speed line with Mase and Hansen.

For line matching at home, AV should be able to roll 4 lines if that 3rd lines role is defensive.

We will see. The opponent will dictate how he uses his wingers in the line combos.
