For the sixth time, I'm voting for Eddie Shore, four-time Hart Trophy winner and in my opinion the top player in the first 25 years of the NHL. He was basically the ideal defenseman. He could hit, fight, score, and defend. He could do it all.

I think it's about time that Al MacInnis was nominated. One of the great defensemen on the game, he could score goals better than most defensemen and had a slap shot that probably gave goaltenders nightmares.

He had seven 20+ goal seasons (and one 19-goal one with 71 games). He won the cup with the Flames in '89.

We're going by the team they played for internationally, thus Brett Hull is considered American. Your vote of Mikita however, is valid, as he played for team Canada, despite being Czechoslovakian.

Voting Francis - 4th all time in points, 2nd all time in assists and two Stanley Cups. Plus most of his points came with a relatively talentless Hartford Whalers squad.

Also nominating Al MacInnis

Glad to see Hainsworth added to the list. Voting Marcel Dionne (look at his PPG numbers!). Nominating yet another goalie, Jacques Plante.

Eddie Shore should be top 10. Come on!

Nominating:

I was going to nominate Mahovlich.. until I realized Plante wasn't on the list! His seven Vezinas, Hart trophy, and six Stanley Cup wins should be enough to rank him above guys like Roy and Brodeur. Only Hasek was better.

Sweet, I'll probably update this after work, sometime this evening.

EDIT: That is if it's not a tie. I may have to do a tie-breaker. We'll see.
