Depends on how we go. Edler's career lies in his performance this playoffs IMO. He's on the fence right now - had a great 2011/2012 season, then blew it in the playoffs and hasn't been good since. If he plays the way we all know he can play, keep him. If he costs us the series again, he should be traded.

Obviously we're going to have to move Luongo, and Ballard has to go with Tanev, Alberts and now even Corrado proving they can play 16-20 minutes a game comfortably. Apart from that our core isn't changing - Raymond and Hansen got better, the twins and Kesler are still pretty good scorers and secondary guys like Burrows and Higgins are still very valuable.

Tweak our 4th line, maybe replace Roy with an affordable top-6 forward (or keep him) and we're set.

raymond got better for about 3 weeks. Let him go unless he rips it up in the playoffs, which he will not.

Has any team, in the entire history of the NHL, actually "blown up the team"????

That's something haters just say.

Sure...maybe trade a couple of guys - but "blow up"?

:picard: Playoffs haven't even started yet and you're making plans to blow up the team...

That said, that's not really a blow-up. Lu will be moved regardless, Roy/Raymond are UFA's so dropping them is more or less expected. Ballard is a good as gone, if not by trade then compliance buyout.

So the only shake up your providing is firing the coaching staff and moving Edler

You got got rid of a couple of players, that's not blowing up the team.

You would have to get rid of our core players(Sedins, burrows, kesler, hamuis, bieksa,Garrison,Edler,Schneider) to consider blowing up the team

Wow..... Did Detroit blow it up? they were contending team since 1991, and didn't actually win it until 1997, despite making it to the finals in 95, ran away with the Presidents trophy in 96. They sure as hell didn't blow it up. We blow it up when Sedins retire, until then we have a legit shot at lord stanley.

Good lord. WTF.

No, you don't blow up the team like that. I do think some changes beyond the obvious ones might be necessary though. The first steps would obviously be moving Luongo and Ballard but AV and staff should also be gone and possibly MG. If Gillis is on the chopping block the Canucks should replace him before trading Luongo or Ballard. Let the new guy see what he can do there. Obviously Gillis won't do it unless he gets the moon in return, which ain't happening.

I would not mind seeing a few core players traded to change the dynamic of the team a bit if they do not get it done again this season though.

This is a good team but it is missing a few key parts and one of them is the most effective type of coach in my opinion. That should be the first thing looked at. Gillis might do it just to save his own skin.
