Paul MacLean
10 seasons in the NHL; 719GP; 324G; 349A; 673PTS; 969PIM, including one year where he had 41G and 60A = 101PTS. Was a gritty, right winger who played in an era where more goals were scored. Probably never made more than $500,000 per year playing for the Jets, Wings and Blues.

Brandon Prust
5 seasons in the NHL; 317GP; 29G; 48A; 77PTS; 722PIM. Received countless beat downs from Rick Rypien (RIP RYP), apparent "character" player for the Habs, making $2.5 million.

What has the world come to when a depth player with marginal skills, touted to be a character guy makes this kind of money? Not much of a player who will provide you with skill and point production, but gotta give credit to Prust for the funny sound bite.

Paul MacLean would have fought the punk Prust during his day...Therrien looks like he's about to cry. Quick, someone in the media scrum get Therrien a crying towel.

Hope Eller gets back sooner than later. Can't believe Gryba got two and Dustin the puke Brown got nothing for his intent to injure Jaden Schwarz. Way to go Shanny.

He talks about disrespect then he says that comment? I'm guessing he's missing a few brain cells.

Yah that pissed me off. I know Prust was emotional but have some respect. Try keeping your trap shut when boiling over in front of a camera.

As yaba pointed out, Prust isn't fit to carry the jock of a player of the caliber that McLean was. He should shut up and get back to playing his 5 minutes per game...

Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

Say what you want about Prust, but the Canucks don't have a single tough guy right now who can score goals as well as he can.

Our answer to Prust is Weise and Ebbett...

This. Besides, Prust wasn't hired for his class and diplomatic disposition. He has the right attitude: stick up for your mates. He also immediately directs the comment to focusing on winning hockey games. True, he may not be "classy", but a team full of Lady Bing candidates never won a cup. They lost in game 7 . . .

Miller is not on our list. It's Lack as our #1. There is no reason we would have traded both Schnieder and Luongo if we never intended to give Lack the #1 starting job.  Furthermore, the salary and term Miller is looking for is not in our favor.

I totally agree. I'll add one more stat:
Paul Maclean rookie year: 36g
Brandon Prust career: 29g.

What does Prust spouting off have to do with the Canucks? Why even being them into this conversation?!?

Prust is a tough guy? My only memories of Prust is him on the flames attempting to fight Rypien and getting his crap handed to him

I remember he kinda had to fight Rypien cuz Rypien would not fight Goddard ever, gotta give it to prust he didn't mind taking the beatings, looks like he still doesn't. In fact I don't think he wins many fights at all, he just likes fighting haha

I'd rather have this walrus coaching our team.

He seems to motivate and challenge his players and also allows rookies to play and learn from their mistakes.

Believe in your players and they will believe in themselves.

It's easier to find tattooless NBA players than it is to find strong role models in professional sports.
