7 in 4 is enough for a hasek, Roy, quick, Thomas

So since everyone says Luongo is a HHOF goalie this shouldn't be a problem

How many goals have the defending Stanley cup champions scored this playoffs?

Exactly

It's the fricken playoffs you monkeys

Who you calling monkeys? Some of us use that nifty opposable thumb to type stuff into Google to fact check our "facts." You should try it.

Hasek:

  • In 2002, Detroit scored 4 or more goals in 3 games of round 1 and in 2 games of round 2. In the finals, they scored 3 goals in every game they won. The only game in the finals they lost they scored 2 goals.

  • In 2008, they scored 3 or more goals in all but 2 first round games. In round 2, they scored 4 or more goals in every game. In the 3rd round, they scored 4 or more goals in 3 games. In the finals, they scored 3 or more goals in all but 2 games.

Roy:

  • In 1986, Montreal scored 3 or more goals in 3 games during the finals. (I didn't see the scores for the other rounds.)

  • In 1993, Montreal scored 3 or more goals in 3 games during the first round. They scored 4 in every game in the second round. They scored 4 or more goals in 3 games during the third round. And they scored 3 or more goals during 4 games in the finals.

  • In 1996, Colorado scored 3 or more goals in every game of the first round. They scored 4 or more goals in 4 games during the second round. They scored 3 or more in all but one game during the third round. And they scored 3 or more goals in 3 games of their 4-game finals sweep.

  • In 2001, Colorado scored 4 or more goals in 3 of the 4 games in the first round. In the second round, they scored 3 or more goals in 4 games. In the third round, they scored 3 or more goals in all but one game. And in the finals, they scored 3 or more goals in 4 games.

Quick:

  • In 2012, LA scored 4 or more goals in 2 games in the first and second rounds as well as in the finals. They also scored 4 or more goals in 3 games of the third round.

  • This year, LA's scoring has dried up. As a result, they are down 2-1 in the series. Not exactly proving your point!

Thomas:

  • In 2011, Boston scored 4 or more goals in 3 games in each the first round and second rounds. They scored 3 or more goals in 4 games during the third round. And they scored 4 or more goals in 4 games during the finals.

So you see, your own examples prove that even with a great goalie, scoring matters!

I like Lou. He always seems to get the rotten end of it when the team can't/wont score. The thing is the guys seem to play better in front of Schneider for some reason. Why not give it a shot?

I know that's a nice thought, but it's not true.

Cory played in 30 games this season and won 17, or barely better than half. Of those 17 wins, the Canucks managed to score 3 or more goals in 11. Cory only won 6 games when the Canucks scored 2 or fewer goals.

Similarly, Luo played in 20 games (18 starts) and won 9 games. Of those 9 wins, the Canucks scored 3 or more goals in 5 games.

It's nothing more than wishful thinking, people. Cory's not a god and will not save us from a lack of point production! It's a team sport and it has to be a team effort to win!

Lol funny people are saying niemi is outplaying luongo looking purely on stats only. Im sure if luongo played the same way he did and if he was playing on the sharks team he woulda shut the canucks out in the first 2 games.. sure we have shots on him.. but does anyone remember when and if niemi was ever really tested?? We have literally 0 scoring chances

Don't know how to Google, only snark?

In 2008 Hasek played 4 games, won only 2, allowed 10 goals and had a playoff SV% of .888 and his team still won the Cup. See what scoring can do?

Have you bothered to read anything I've written? My entire point is that neither Cory nor Luo is a god. Both give us a chance to win most games, but only if we score. Scoring is how teams win!!
