Fire Unsucessful GM for last 2 years . Coach AV is fine . But get rid of Cory Schneider 4 M + David Booth 4.25M + keith Ballard 4.25 M + zach Kassian .875M + Andrew Ebbet .600 M + Andrew Alberts 1.225 M = 15.15 M .

So canucks salary cap gonna cut down at 55 M for today's market . Next year Alex Elder gain more 1.8 M in his new contract + Chris Higgins also gain .600 M = 2.4 M

55 M + 2.4 M = 57.4 M for rest of Canucks roster .

Canucks still have 6.7 M in cap space . We could be get star wing ( offensive player ) .

Offensive :

Higgins Kesler burrows

Daniel Henrik Hansen ( Jensen )

May Ray Roy Schroeder ( Gaunce )

Lapierre kellan Lain pinnizzoto

-------------------------------------------------------

Blue line :

Beiksa Hamuis

Elder Garrison

Tanev cam barker ( Frank Corrado , Patrick Mullen , Yaun Sauve )

Luongo

Joe cantata or Eddie

This could be a great team ever !!!

Gillis says:

  • "Help and Support for Sedins" - Sedins getting older and scoring will naturally decline. Naslund's last year or so comes to mind where the club did not support him with appropriate linemates. Help for the Sedins comes in the form of acquiring two skilled veterans to enhance scoring on the first and second line. Veterans should be proven playoff performers/international tourney performers and team leaders who naturally will ease some of the burden of scoring and leadership placed on the Sedins from on and off the ice.

  • "Younger" - Have to develop or acquire youth due to attrition and cap reasons. Youth will be dispersed through line-up and mixed with existing and added veterans who will become mentors. In turn our young players inject energy and skill into line-up which veterans can feed off of. If some of the younger players are falling short they can be moved down the line-up and replaced with our utility players - Burrows, Higgins, Hansen, Kassian, Weise...

  • More Dynamic - Offense and power play has become stale. Do we ever get a good scoring chance let alone score from an odd man rush? Second Power play lacking some skill/playmakers. The acquisition of Roy helped some in both these areas. A coaching change or systems change could be in order to be more dynamic as well as work and develop our young players. Possibly experiment with breaking up Sedins 5 on 5? They would enhance/develop a shoot first instinct that could benefit them in the play-offs while still acting as playmakers for the top two lines. The Sedins are excellent at improving/adapting their game. See increased physicality and defense this year.

Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / 1R Shane Doan ($5.300m) - Mmmmm puck possession.

Nicklas Jensen ($0.863m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / 2R/C Danny Briere ($6.500m) - increased skill, vision and playmaking

Chris Higgins ($2.500m) / Brendan Gaunce ($1.057m) / Alexandre Burrows ($4.500m) - shut down

Zack Kassian ($0.870m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.150m) / Jannik Hansen ($1.350m) - hit squad

Dale Weise ($0.677m) / - OR Tostito for toughness.

Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Jason Garrison ($4.600m) - do these guys work well together and can they eat up minutes?

Alexander Edler ($5.000m) / Chris Tanev ($1.200m) - Can Tanev cover for Edler and/or Bieksa. I prefer Edler but...Bieksa's NTC

Andrew Alberts ($1.225m) / Frank Corrado ($0.599m) - Can these guys keep playing like they did at the end of this season.

Jim Vandermeer ($0.600m) / - any plug

Cory Schneider ($4.000m)

Eddie Lack ($0.750m)

------

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $64,440,944; BONUSES: $162,500

CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $21,556

Notes:

1R - Doan obviously not likely but could be any strong winger who can cycle, shoot and work in front of the net. Iginla, Horton, Kassian...

2R/C - Briere for Luongo solves needs on both teams assuming PHI buys out Bryz. PHI gets a goalie and cap relief. We overpay for Briere but end the goalie controversy and get a skilled second line winger/center with leadership and playoff performances - over 1ppg in playoffs career. Brieres' numbers are declining so maybe sign Ribeiro, Roy or similar player via trade. One or two East-West players instead of pure North-South players.

Jensen - sniper for second line. Kesler can drive to net with or without puck to create space and pick up rebounds. Can be replaced by Burrows or Kassian if not ready.

Gaunce - Two way player. Can be replaced by Briere if required and Gaunce plays wing/centre on 4th with Lappy.

If that is one two many young players to rely on then put Kassian with the Sedins, Keep Booth on the second line with Kesler and newly acquired skilled winger/center. Gaunce/Schroeder can play 3C.

I'm new at this but was fun. Thoughts?

Sedin - Sedin -

Burrows - Kesler - Jensen

Higgins - - Hansen

Gaunce - Lappi - Kassian

Hamhuis - Bieksa

Garrison - Tanev

- Corrado

Alberts

Schneider

Lack

I'd like to see Lu traded for a 1st round pick in this draft and a good young left winger with size to grow on that 4th line with Kass. Edler should be traded for a winger to play with the Sedins or to move up in the draft.. Maybe there's enough value in Booth/Ballard to get an offensive type D, I really like Alberts as the 7th.

Sedin Sedin Burrows [boring and lame]

Booth Kesler Kassian

Higgins [Plug] Hansen

Sestito Lapierre Weise

Ebbett

Hamhuis Garrison

Edler Bieksa

Alberts Corrado

Tanev Barker

Schneider

[plug] / Lack

This team sucks.

Our defence is horrible and overpaid, our forwards can't score, we can't split up our top line but we have the best third line depth of non-goal scoreres in the league because we have 5 wingers that can play on that line. Great. I would rather blow up the team than keep that core together. Thankfully I can divert my energies into something besides hockey next year.

Lu = Gudbranson or Kulikov (+ 2nd)

Ballard + Anthony (or another NOT Top-Prospect) = Clutterbuck

Edler + 2nd + 3rd = Lucic

Henrik + Sedin = 1st + 2nd + Prospect

Bieksa + Booth + Tommernes/Sauve = Johansen + Wisniewski

------------------------------------------

Lucic - Kesler - Kassian

Higgins - Roy/Weiss - Clutterbuck/Burrows

Clowe/Burrows - Johansen/Lapierre - Hansen

Sweatt/Lain - Schroeder/Lapierre - Jensen

(Johansen/Schroeder, Weise, Gaunce, Sweatt/Lain, Rodin, Pinni, Steckel + 1 or 2 FA)

Hamhuis - Garrison

Corrado - Tanev

Gudbranson/Kulikov - Wisniewski

(Alberts, Andersson, Tommernes/Sauve, Huskins, O'Byrne + 1 other FA)

Schneider

Lack

I guess it's more dream than realism, but this would be a awful line-up I think.

With Lucic, Clutterbuck and Clowe more grit, more strength and all of them can score.

We need a new timeline - without our Super-Twins! I'm sorry to say, but I think with Henrik and Daniel we would only win a flowerpot in the PO's.

At 4th-line our young players get their chance to play "with big guys". But I would like to sign 2 players of the FA market, which play tough and go hard.

Give our young talent a chance to show they can play in this league. They arent going to get any experience playing bottom line minutes and the cap is going down. Maybe get a legitimate top 6 forward and depth dman through trades involving booth and luongo, buyout ballard, and let mason walk.

There is no need to gut the team or trade/sign free agents to fill holes. Kass and Jensen are the big powerforwards we are looking for, just have to let them grow and Gaunce is the centre depth we need.

Gillis wants to get bigger and younger then this is what he needs to do. Trust the young ones and bring in a coach that can get them there.

I would make a couple of changes:

Kassian to top line. Reason:

Burrows and Kesler together are like a shutdown line so your 3rd line is a 2B offensive line and don't have to play main defensive role.

Trade Schneider to Pittsburgh for James Neal. Reason:

Luongo is still a great goalie but we get nothing for him in terms of value. Draft a goalie this year and groom him for 2-3 years ala Schneider. Neal is a stud and Pittsburgh needs a goalie.

Trade Edler to Philadelphia for Simmonds and L.Schenn Reason:

Huge value for Canucks and Edler has become expendable. I think his back is bothering him big time and its not reported. He gets points as he is on power play but his physicality is gone due to back. Schenn: Not sure if he is right handed but he's a western kid and we have too much money on the blue line. Love the way Simmonds plays.

Bring in some of the kids. Need to have these players develop on the fly in the nhl. Jensen is ready but be patient. Kid puts puck into the net at every level so far.

Buy out Ballard and Booth

So lines:

Sedin Sedin Kassian

Burrows Kesler Neal

Hansen Schroeder Simmonds

Higgins Lapierre Jensen

Hamhuis Bieksa

Garrison Tanev

Schenn Corrado

Alberts

Luongo

If things went right how would you guys feel about this line up

Edler for ryan

FA: gordon torres

D.Sedin H.Sedin Z.Kassian

B.Ryan R.Kesler A.Burrows

C.Higgins B.Gordon N.Jensen

R.Torres M.lapierre J.Hansen

(B.Gaunce or K.lain - who ever is more nhl ready)

D.Hamhuis K.Bieksa

J.Garrison F.Corrado

K.Ballard C.Tanev

A.Alberts

C.Schneider

E.Lack

Sedin line needs to focus on offense its what they are offensive players.

Kesler line gets a goal scorer but is dependable in its own zone (200ft line)

Gordon line gives a youngster two players who are good in both ends and allows Jensen to make mistakes and put focus into scoring.

Lapierre line is the best 4th line we ever had with players who can be used on pk and pp (lots of bang for your buck) also can be depended on in their own end
