higgyfan
Yup remember when Kirk mclean left. We haven't made it back to the cup final until Lu gets us there. Now if he left, it will be the dark ages of Canucks franchise. Cory will be the next Dan Cloutier.....I guarantee it.
TOMapleLaughs
Keep in mind, he wants out. Or at least that's what we're being told.
BigRedMachine
Bear in mind this thread is not about whether the Canucks should go with Schneider or Luongo. It is about how they handled the situation once they made that decision.

Sanford
I'm sure we treated Luongo really bad when we gave him that multi million dollar contract... OHHH poor Luongo... MY CONTRACT SUCKS, if it sucks make it void... but I know he won't.
Jester13
Schneids has outplayed Lou, is younger, lower cap hit, higher skill level at this point in their careers, and Lou--whether you want to believe it or not--has shown over and over again that he is not up to the task when it matters... GMMG has made all the right moves with respect to trading Lou, yet here we are with our 20/20 hindsight saying how he has mishandled the entire thing. SMH. TOMapleLaughs
The Luongo situation is nothing like the Bure situation. The Naslund situation is a closer comparison, but really, we've never had a Luongo situation before, on account of our goaltending depth always sucking before Luongo/Schneider. BigRedMachine
A long time ago GMMG was quoted as saying he wanted to build the Canucks into the type of franchise that would attract elite players and UFA's simply by reputation of how their players are treated. As far as I can judge, he's doing the exact opposite. What UFA is going to want to come here now after this schmozzle?
Neversummer
What management doesn't realize in terms of the bigger picture is that the way they treated Luongo will deter good players from coming here ... especially good goalies.

Niklas Jensen
Wipe out the whole management staff and coaching staff, and repair that bridge. Give me some front office staff who actually cares

Bigturk8
At this point, I'm sure he does. It was the same with Bure. Once management screwed him around for long enough, he was ready to leave.
BuretoMogilny
No we won't, not at all. Was he a good goaltender? Absolutely. Did he has some incredible seasons? Yup. But lets remember, he also had horrible performances as well. Not to mention the earlier years of consistently throwing his team under the bus. The "franchise" (management) also assembled a good team in front of him that let him have a sniff at winning the Stanley Cup. Oh yeah, and not to mention the $60M contract that the "franchise" gave him. He has been treated just fine. What ended up happening was Cory Schneider. A goaltender that is 6 years younger than Luo, has a lower cap hit, and has never thrown his team under the bus. In fact, he is one of the few goaltenders in the league that breaks the traditional mold of "moody" goaltenders and seems to be well liked by both the media and his teammates. TOMapleLaughs
Ryane Clowe hates the Canucks, chose NYR. SJ offered more for Torres than we did. What else?
apollo
Bure was different. The Canucks were basically insulting one of the best players in the game with lowball offers and backhanded tactics like paying in $CDN (which at the time was substantially lower than USD and was not the standard). Lu has a generous contract. He lost his starting job, and he's since blamed the contract, which was mutual between managment and himself, for his trade woes. Bigturk8
Luongo makes less than quite a few goalies... what are u talking about?? 5.3 cap hit. Okay I know he made 10 mill a few seasons but that doesn't impact the team at all... ffs ERHOFF made ten million with the sabers too
