TheAce
After the Sedins re-signed there contract with Vancouver they turned around and donated 1.5 million to the Children's Hospital ( its been said before, but thats awesome of these guys) . My question is, could they have each signed for $750,000 less and then let the Vancouver Canucks donate the 1.5 mil to the hospital in there name ? That way the hospital would still be getting the money, it would have been donated through the Sedins names but would have saved us 1.5 mil in cap space. RyanKeslord17
It was a nice gesture by the Sedins, lets just leave it at that. They wanted to do it from their own will, not just let the Canucks donate it.
apollo
Hahahah I like your thinking. They obviously didn't think of it like that but I guess they could have technically
goalie13
But $750,000 less would have been averaged over the length of their contract. So it would only have been $150,000 more cap space per Sedin.

Aladeen
I'm pretty sure that is what you would call cap circumvention and is most likely a big no-no from the league leading to loss of draft picks and having to sign new contracts.
RyanKeslord17
It was an amazing gesture and im not trying to sound scammy or insincere when i ask that. Its just also a question for our team going forward because at the end of the day everyone wins. The charity of choice wins, the player wins and the team wins as well

apollo
Or they may have thought of it, but the NHLPA might have had a problem with it and said no.
