Yes it was a hit to the head but Leier shouldn't have been cutting to the middle with his head down.

Good hockey hit

Shots to the head are never a good hockey hit. Thus he has been suspended for the rest of the memorial cup as he deserves.

Partly Leier own fault for cutting with his head down. Mostly Throwers fault for launching at the head like a dumbass. Both teams lost important parts of the roster.

I guess we can expect to see players on the offense leading with their heads to take advantage of the new No Hit League and elsewhere.

Nobody pays to watch team Sweden over here, but we are trying to mold a new NHL and WHL after this euro brand of shinny. Left-wing lock, alright...

Weak Crowd and a Weak Performance by the Blades but at the end of the day they were not a good enough team compared to the other three. The Fact they won a game was a bit of a shock for most

So it's No. 1 vs No. 2, Halifax vs Portland, MacKinnon vs Jones, a heavyweight tilt on Sunday for the 2013 Memorial Cup. #snmemorialcup

Games like that really make it suck that there has to be a loser. Even though the Knights lost, that was a hell of a game. Whoever won that game i think would've shut down halifax's offense in the final. I'm going with Portland in the final. That game was why i love this game.

Great Hockey Game to be at! Just over 9k in attendance witnessed the best game of the tournament. Lots of Action, Great Goal tending, and late game dramatics setting up what could be one of the best Memorial Cup Finals in history. Predictions?

I've seen Portland against the Blazers and it wasn't even close for most of it and we had a pretty good team.

I haven't watched any Halifax games outside of the memorial cup, but they are impressive.

This final is one for the ages, maybe the best in decades.

I'm going with Portland because if they can play their D game and Carruth plays well, they can win. If Halifax is allowed to come in waves to the net they will steam roll Portland. Very tough to call.

I can't wait. The top 3 picks showcased like this? Epic.

I'm excited for the game. Gonna be an epic battle. I think the biggest factor is Carruth. He wasn't there in the first meeting and will have to be on his toes like he was against London to win this. I think he can do it. Gonna be a hard fought game and I cant wait till 4!

Couldn't Agree More! Carruth will have to play as good as he did against London for the Winterhawks to win this game because even though they have some great forwards up front they can not get in a track meet with Halifax

Gillis need to trick DT into trading that #2 overall pick in a blockbuster deal to vancouver. Draft Mackinnon.

I think Colorado would be crazy to pass on MacKinnon.

Abeltshauser scores, 5-2 Halifax, Drouin grabs his 5th assist and MacKinnon grabs his 2nd assist and 4th point.

5-2 Halifax

If Mackinnon doesn't go first overall...

In my eyes drouin is overrated he can score in the qmjhl but did nothing in last two gold medal games that canada lost. Fox will be better pro than him talk to me in five yrs

Gaudreau has one NHL goal whereas all your "prized" prospects have none.

ryan kesler is going to the chicago blackhawks ...       quote me on it

I have a real gut feeling that one of the teams in the top 3 will make a real hard play to get another top 3 pick and grab both of these guys.

This Nic Petan kid is really good. The team that picks him in the early 2nd round could have a steal on their hands.

Not that we had a chance at trading to get MacKinnon in the first place. But kiss any chance of that goodbye with that clutch performance.

Congrats to Halifax on winning your first memorial cup. Mackinnon is an unreal hockey player.

Also congrats to London, Portland, Halifax, and Saskatoon for playing some great hockey this past few week. Some of the games this week included some of the best hockey I have ever watched live.

Portland gave it a shot at the end but the better team won. Portland had no answer for Frk - MacKinnon - Drouin line all cup and they buried PDX in this game. To think the waved off goal by Rattie (and should have been waved off) and Bjorkstrand hitting the post and that is a Portland win or at least to OT. That said, a very big congrats to Halifax. They deserved it.

For Portland:
Rattie was great and could be the sniper that St. Louis needs down the road. If not for the empty netter for MacKinnon they were tied for points in the Memorial Cup. Petan will be an underrated late 1st early 2nd rounder. I was disappointed in Leipsic in this game. Pouliot was great and will be a good defenceman in the NHL for Pittsburgh. Jones looked good in this game but I dont think he is a unanimous number 1. I think that COL doesnt need a center and will pick Jones over MacKinnon for that reason. Rutkowski was an unsigned draft pick of Colorado that Ottowa stole this season in my opinion and played well-ish.

For Halifax:
Martin Frk should be a good player for Detroit, he looked dangerous all season. As for Drouin, nothing to say that hasnt been said yet, fantastic player and passer. MacKinnin showed he is the number 1 prospect to me in this cup, 6 goals against Portland.....Fucale will be a good goalie. Fournier is a high caliber pest player like Burrows was and Marchand is now. Dont know many of the other players as I am a Portlander and a Winterhawks fan.

I think someone needs to trade around and get the 2 and 3 pick assuming Jones goes first and get Drouin and MacKinnon together. They are unreal and have fantastic chemistry.

A great Memorial Cup. I enjoyed all of the games and witnessed some fantastic plays and players. Wish it wasnt over.
