wallstreetamigo
Tanev is not worth more than 3rd pairing money. He is one of those guys that teams need to have on their roster for cheap to offset the higher salary players. Once you give him the 2 million plus contract his limitations start to show. No physical play. No real offensive upside. Bottom pairing production. And it is a myth that he makes all of his partners better. He benefits just as much from them too. He is a solid young defensive defenceman but honestly he is severely overrated on CDC.

Onions
people won't offer sheet tanev. He's solid but no offensive numbers to show.
thehamburglar
1.5 per season for 3. Reasonable, and a good raise, he isn't a going to get many points and he has the easiest competition of all D-men for Canucks.
Pears
Watch Detroit sign him to an offer sheet, we don't match it and then the Wings turn him into the second coming of Lidstrom
Pears
Have you been asleep the last 2 years. Higgins and Hansen are NOT 2nd liners. They are 3rd but more suitably 4th liners in a SC winning team.
thad
The same Jay Feaster who offered up a draft pick for an ineligible player this season... The same Jay Feaster who made a 'big' move last season by (gulp) extending Tim Jackman instead of making a deal at the deadline to help his team make the playoffs... The same Jay Feaster who expects to make the playoffs next year in a division that includes Anaheim, San Jose, LA and Vancouver. The water must be really magical in Calgary. Bodee
They're 4th liners on a ridiculously stacked team, but third liners on any other contending team.
BenDrinkin
Fair enough but they are NOT 2nd liners and if they are 3rd liners on "any other contending team" then it must be ok for that team if they tend NOT TO SHOW UP..............especially Higgins, who I would have been delighted to see walk/traded. Bodee
That's crazy, I think Higgins is one our best all around players, considering salary. What exactly do you expect from him?
Linden53
There's so much money already invested in D-men who may be difficult to move. 5 of them have contracts with cap hits between 4.2 and 5 million, seems a bit excessive. I'd hate to see Tanev lost through this, but in order to keep him Van may have to move another valuable defenseman. Ack.
