I'm not a big fan of Kane - Not because of his off-ice antics would I really doesn't affect anyone. I mean he is payed to play hockey.

For me it would be Toews, Hossa a second choice. Kesler would just play wing. Toews is a player kind of like Sakic, Iginla, etc. That so much the style but just for me personally I cannot hate the guy even when he scores against us. Classy guy and thats saying a lot as there seems to be a lack of classy guys now a days :S

Now I know there's a lot of Hawk haters on here, but there are quite of few that have put the previous days past them, and have begun to enjoy and appreciate their talent. I understand that some people will forever hate the Hawks. Regardless, here is a question for those willing to partake in a discussion.

Let's say if you were able to add one player from the Hawks onto the Canucks, who would it be? Let's not put cap into consideration here, but at the same time, no other moves can be made. Just adding one player from the Hawks, that's it.

1. Jonathan Toews

Leader, first line center, young, defensively sound, improving offensive game, and a whole lot of heart. Point per game center in the regular season who plays with an extra gear in the playoffs.

Problem? H.Sedin and Kesler stand in the way. Could easily clash with Kesler, as Kesler would be bumped down to a 3rd line role.

The lack of wingers to spread around would be poor.

H.Sedin

Toews

Kesler

Wingers: D.Sedin, Burrows, Higgins, Hansen, Booth, Weise, Kassian, Raymond (if re-signed)

We all see how poorly Roy played with 3rd line players, when in fact he his a fringe 1st line center, that should be playing with guys like Vanek and Pominville, not Higgins and Hansen. The case could be with Toews who has been gifted amazing line-mates such as Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa and others.

Potential forward line-up

D.Sedin-H.Sedin-Burrows

Booth-Toews-Kassian

Higgins-Kesler-Hansen

Lapierre-Lain-Weise

2. Patrick Kane

Supremely skilled offensive talent. Provides outstanding on ice vision, ability to make slick passes, deceptive shot, with tons of speed and ability to finish on breakaways and penalty shots. An elite offensive producer.

Problem? His lack of defensive play may hinder him a bit, assuming AV is coach. Although he might work very well with shooter Ryan Kesler. He's a bit undersized, but the skill and talent is undeniable. He doesn't play with Toews or Hossa, and yet continued to produce this year. So maybe Kane is the best fit for the Canucks. But you have a gaping hole in center with Max Lapierre as the 3rd line C.

Potential forward line-up

D.Sedin-H.Sedin-Burrows

Booth-Kesler-Kane

Higgins-Lapierre-Hansen

Lapierre-Lain-Kassian

3. Marian Hossa

The savvy two-way veteran forward is one of the most reliable players in the NHL. Get's it done defensively and offensively. Has one of the best shots in the NHL, one-timer or wrister, he can score goals. Has good playmaking ability and an outstanding puck-possession game, which could absolutely dominate with the Sedins. He is extremely versatile, and could also work very well with Ryan Kesler, creating a 1A line/shut-down line, similar to the current line of Saad-Toews-Hossa.

Problem? He's a bit older, and can be prone to injury. He would likely fit the Canuck system better, but it's risky to add a 34 year old winger with some injury problems. Once again, you have a gaping hole in center, with Lapierre on the 3rd line position. His skill is undeniable, and he would be a monster in the cycle with the Sedins, or shutting down top lines and producing with Kesler.

Potential line-up

D.Sedin-H.Sedin-Hossa

Burrows-Kesler-Hansen

Booth-Lapierre-Kassian

Higgins-Lain-Weise

4. Duncan Keith

Former Norris winning all-around defenseman, provides elite skating ability and puck-movement, excellent defensive smarts and skill, ability to quarterback a power-play and play with a edge when needed...

Problem? I honestly don't see one. The LD depth would be insane, and RD depth would be weak. Keith, Hamhuis, Edler, Ballard, Garrison vs Bieksa, Tanev and Corrado. He isn't a crease clearing defenseman, which is something Vancouver might want more, but I think since the departure of Ehrhoff, that puck-movement is being missed, and Keith provides that and offers the ability to play defense. You get a PPQB and a top notch PKer. Not to mention you are able to shelter Edler ala Cody Franson.

Potential defense line-up

Keith-Garrison

Hamhuis-Bieksa

Edler-Tanev

5. Brent Seabrook

Big BC boy. Can move the puck, initiate the body, bring his physical game in every game, can play a shut-down role, and chip in some with offense with his big point shot. Right handed, right-side defenseman.

Problem? Who do you put him with! Do you put all your eggs in one basket and play him with Hamhuis? Do you see if he can be a calming influence to Alex Edler? Or do you role a big pairing and run him with Garrison? He would be a great fit for Vancouver, but he is not a #1 defenseman. At his peak, he was dominant on both ends of the ice, but he has regressed a bit. Still can log huge minutes and would be a great fit.

Potential defense line-up

Edler-Seabrook

Hamhuis-Bieksa

Garrison-Tanev

6. Dave Bolland

Quite a talent difference from him and the rest! But he fits a huge need for Vancouver... A third line center. No clashing with Kesler, he knows his role. Clutch playoff player, can throw players off their game. Adept in a shutdown role and playing on the PK, and has a some offensive upside.

Problem? Canucks are still lacking wingers for Kesler. But one can argue, putting Bolland's line against other teams top lines will open up space for Kesler and H.Sedin ala his 40 goal season with Malhotra playing like beast. But one can argue that getting Toews would be better then Bolland, and have Kesler as the shut-down C. Plus Bolland has had an history with injuries.

Potential forward line-up

D.Sedin-H.Sedin-Burrows

Booth-Kesler-Kassian

Higgins-Bolland-Hansen

Lapierre-Lain-Weise

So what is it CDC?

Elite two-way center

Elite two-way winger

Elite playmaking winger

Elite #1 defenseman

Big top 2 physical defenseman

Bonafide third line shutdown center

MARIAN HOSSA. Wish we had signed him. He every year quietly pots 20+ goals and never disappears in the playoffs. He has size, speed, skill, kills penalties, and pp. All around complete player Love the way he plays. Always controls the puck and hard to knock off

Kane... don't really like him off ice but he's a sick player

I wish we could somehow get Kane and Giroux for the Sedins... wouldn't mind Lucic and/or Ryan either

Lucic-Giroux-Kane

Higgins-Kesler-Ryan

Raymond-Schroeder-Hansen

Weise-Lapierre-Kassian

Toews or Kane.

Toews is the better player, but I think Kane would help out the Canucks more.

Just for fun OP. What Canucks player would you add to the Hawks?

It's like compairing Pavel Bure to Trevor Linden. Kane is like Bure, natural goal scorer and a game changer, plus both are a little cocky, but can back it up with their play. Jonathan is like Linden a leader who can play in all rolls of the game, can do it defensively or offensively, and come up clutch.
