Hockey Fever
Bigger ice ,more wide open play and skill equals gold for the Sedins. Small ice surface, tight checking and hard hitting equals first round exit for them.
van_ws
Good.. but where the hell was this in the playoffs? I think the larger ice surface suits their game better. When it is more tighter checking and physical in the playoffs, the Sedins are nowhere to be found. They are invisible come playoff time. The problem with the Canucks is that they have way too many passengers and not enough players who can actually raise their game in the post-season. Until this changes, don't expect them to make any sort of run.

CrippledCanuck
The olympics came at the wrong time for Sweden as the sedins went cold in 2010
CrippledCanuck
The big ice didn't play as much of a factor as the style of play at the international level. The rules prevent teams from gooning it up, so there's alot more focus on skill there.
clutesi
So widen our ice surface and maximize our home ice advantage. Boston's done it for years forcing players to play in that little closet of an ice surface then drafting larger lower, skilled players for that small ice. Is there something in the rules that says we can't enlarge our ice surface? Look at the Sedins flourish with just a bit more space. And putting one of the Sedins on the point looks like criminally bad coaching when you watch them throw the puck around down low. The Sedins could be so much better with a little more space.
