Hypothetical ? on Lu's Value...

5 posts in this topic

Imagine MG gets an extraordinary offer for Schneids, eg:Gudbranson, Bjustad, Markstrom(+ a pick) for CS, Schray & bigger contract(eg:booth)... Dude says, "Lordy, it's too much to pass up!", so he swings the deal. Then he can portray it to Lu, the team & media as a brilliant offer he simply couldn't refuse...

Would such a scenario, result in us receiving better offers for Lu? Mainly due to scarcity, but also because our cap situation may no longer be a pressing issue. As we all know, when you're no longer "desperate", great deals have a funny way of belatedly materializing.

Price, Fleury & Holtby all had bad stints, or poor key games. Ward & Rinne under the knife. Blokes like Crawford & Miller appearing replaceable..Maybe in the above scenario, Lu's value starts rising, considered a dependable vet...

Should MG look at dealing BOTH 'tenders if he can obtain serious depth in youth/size/picks(whilst receiving a great young 'tender-prospect, like Markstrom)?

If he was smart he would have left the option of either goalie could be dealt.

But instead, he managed to completely screw up what would have been a huge advantage to a more competent GM.

Only way Lu's value raises at this point is if a few goalies head off to Europe.
