BenDrinkin
Not sure why I expected more than a bunch of belittling from Luongo haters, par for the course here at CDC, as losers try to pump up their own self esteem up by attempting to bring others down. Part of my point is that if we keep Schneider, we don't get as much in return, thus helping close the window of opportunity that this franchise has. If you think this team will be good in 5 years, great, but I don't. I want to win now, and trading Lu ain't gonna make that happen. Cory should be good, but only time will tell. And even if he IS good in five years, will it matter? (e.g. Luongo in Florida back in the day) Hate on, my friends.
canacks1970
Obvious? lol not quite, as I say, he hasn't played a full season as #1 anywhere, let alone in this market. Time will tell, and I hope I'm wrong, but doubt it.
kmotamed
Paying an unproven goalie 4 million a year was a mistake to begin with. If he was somewhere between 2-3, then i would understand the "make cap room to bring in better players" argument. But if the difference is a million and change, Luongo would be much more worth the value.
MrCanuck94
Actually he has played a full season as a number one . In is last year in Manitoba where he played 60 games. Let me ask you this a few years ago what makes you think Loungo was going to be any better when he first came here? He was the same age (27) as Schnieder when he came to Vancouver. Never played in a Hockey market like Vancouver. Never played on a winning team in the NHL and NO PLAYOFF Experience until he got here. So If your going to give Roberto a chance then why don't you give the same to Cory????

canacks1970
Cause Lu took that oppurtunity and ran with it and carried an average Canucks team to the 2nd round by himself..?
Primal Optimist
He is a top goalie in the league, but has had issues in lacing up for playoff games, and hasn't played a full season as the number one, so why does (seemingly) everyone have so much faith in him? Why did he even miss the first two playoff games this year? Injury? Stress? I imagine this is in the wrong forum, or it is redundant, or stupid (by some people's standards), etc, so I'm sorry in advance. I just have a strong feeling that keeping Schneider will be a mistake. Mr.DirtyDangles
The way this city and organization treats goalies he will be done in 2 years. We screw ourselves just because we can and we will do it over and over again until we get a real GM that can actually pull the trigger.
canacks1970
Well we also had a popgun for offense too. Remember we played a trap system throughout the whole season. It was team defense first mentality. Plus we played a Dallas team that was just as offensive challenged as we were in the first round.

Blue & Green
No goalie is a sure thing every game and only a few maintain playing at the top level year after year. Truth is, I would be happy with either goalie but one has to go. MG did state in his year end presser that it would be very unlikely that Lui would be here next season, so I will go with that until I hear differently. Contract wise, I hope lui goes. I hated that huge contract from the beginning and would have preferred to let Luongo sign elsewhere, however I know I was in the minority at the time. Matter of fact, the majority would have demanded MG's head if he let Lui go. It's hard to bank on goalie's, they are a different breed. You must be a little nuts to want to play there, imo. 24K PureCool
All I ask of Schneid is to stop having brain farts from time to time where he open the flood gates for 5 min.
brownky
I understand that people think that he will be fine, but why? Never played as number 1, and never had a playoffs without injury (concerns). Mark my words, we will go back to being a goalie graveyard. Hope I'm wrong.

Luongo4life14
It's more of the fact that he cost less than Luongo, and that we can use that extra salary space to give Schneider a better team. Plus, he's younger and has a good attitude. If he doesn't work, Eddie Lack isn't too far away.
smurf47
No way, Schneider has a terrible attitude. Go back and watch some of his post or pre game interviews. You can find him touting himself as the better goalie at least 5 times this season. It is pretty ridiculous judging he still hasn't played an entire season as starter yet he is touted as an elite goaltender in the NHL by 50% of the Canucks fans and lets not forget that although bandwagon canucks fans love to claim that Schneider was our saving grace against LA two years ago....We lost that series in five games and Schneider was no better than the rest of his team. His play off record is despicable (1-4). MG really destroyed this team and a great coach and one the NHL's best goalies ever to play the game are paying the price because he is too scared to take the blame,. cmpunk
If we are going with Schneider since he is our "future" because of age and all that, then our window is closed now and going to take a few years to get back at contending level. Some fans think next year will all be better and we will be a contender again. I realistically think it is going to get worse for a few more years before we get better. We have only gotten worse since 2011, and it seems we are on a VERY similar path as the Flames.
UFCanuck
He was better than Luongo this year for sure. Got injured stuff happens.
