dura_mater
Yes, yes it is impossible to gain 20lbs of MUSCLE in one summer for someone who has never touched a weight, let alone someone with the Sedins training age. http://www.bodyrecom...-potential.html
JelloIce
Maybe, they're not exactly small. It's their "mean streak" that I'd love to see become more intense. A certain amount of "angst" would do them good.
dirk diggler
Couldn't hurt but it's hardly a panacea for them and their soft play. In order for muscle to be effective it must be combined with mental toughness, which they do not intrinsically have. They do not possess a warrior's spirit which in today's NHL the top guys have. There's really no place for a player in today's NHL who cannot and will not fight for themselves. You can't be getting pushed around out there and not respond. When Joe Thornton pushed his fingers into Henrik's face and Henrik just ate it like a bitch, I was done with them. The Swedish Elite league is more their speed. BenDrinkin
Regardless, he should have done something after the third punch. It just shows even a lil guy can do anything to the Sedins. I wouldn't call them weak but maybe soft as this is the playoffs you need to win at any means necessary and adding some snarly attitude to your game won't hurt
GoLions
Yeah I can see it now....in Sept the Sedins return from the summer all roided up and fight every game. Yeah that'll work. These two guys have more mental toughness than anyone on their team by a wide margin....lets hope management find some players to compliment them, rather than turn them into musclebound heavyweights. Fast twitch genetically blessed athletes can pack on muscle to enhance what they already have...slow twitch genetics can't. The Sedins aren't overly blessed with fast twitch....that's why their shifts are sometimes so long. They have endurance, not speed. Can't have both. guesswhere
The average NHL shift is < 30-45 sec
guesswhere
Because no human could run full out as fast as they do for 1 minute straight. NHL players aren't spriting full speed up and down the ice non-stop for an entire shift either

Henrik Kesler
You've included a link to what exactly? One article with no references and some guys name without his credentials listed (if he even has any).

Hyack01
They don't need more muscle, as they are in superb physical condition. What they need to attain is an attitude and the desire to win in any circumstance. If they were to do anything different I think they should take up boxing or some other self defence type activity to get them used to being in an on ice altercation.....hockey fight..... They are both great European hockey players, what we need them to become is great NHL hockey players, with the emphasis on being able to play NHL style hockey. Bruce Boudreau
Wouldn't hurt if they added 10 pounds of muscle. Speed is not their game. Cycling in the corners is. They weight about 190 right now so being closer to 200 pounds and having added strength to win puck battles can only help their game.

Bruce Boudreau
If you can't skate well then it doesn't matter how strong your lower body is. If all you had to do was power up your legs to be a stronger, better skater then power skating classes would cease to exist.
Mr.53
If Kass c;ickswith them, they'd be fine. Better yet, if we actually landed Nichushkin and he played with them, that would be magical.
Ginu
people think the Sedins are weak cause of crap like this, but Sedin wasn't doing anything here cause he thought the ref would give Marchand a penalty. If he knew nothing was going to be called do you really think Sedin wouldn't have dropped that little rat bitch? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEh53OWz0jU
Henrik Kesler
Man, if I would have been Sedin, I would have dropped that rat in a flash... Problem with the Sedins is not the size or their speed, its their nature and the way they play the game... they play the game with finesse and are not cheap monkeys like the rat... Now over the past few years, the Sedins have played tougher by hitting and retaliating back, so I'm willing to bet this will only improve so I;m excited to see them play again. There have been instances where they go after big guys and they dont seem afraid so anythings possible. Once they get a proper second line and possibly a third line, these guys will shine like crazy, not to mention they will also play with tons of attitude. Having the twins play for Vancouver is a treat and its a shame they dont get more respect by the NHL.
Ginu
Nice post.I think having a proper third line is key for the Sedins to be over PPG production again. With a third line that can eat 14-16 minutes a game against the opponents top lines frees up the Sedins to go play offense. If MG is smart, he finds someone to be 3C between Higgins and Hansen that is a faceoff ace that can contribute 30-40 points.
BenDrinkin
Daniel's team was down a goal or two...& it wouldn't have helped the team's chances to have either of the Sedins go into the sin bin with Brad Marchand...just 'cuz they got suckered into it.....instead of leading an offensive push. But - this was the Rat's intent all along. The Sedins generally have the patience of Saints...so Daniel anticipated officials would be blowing the whistle to call the obvious roughing penalty - especially when he could clearly see the whites of their eyes only 2ft away. Instead...Daniel essentially gets a 10 min misconduct for creating the circumstances whereby the officials publicly "embarrass" themselves by not wanting to call ANYTHING against the league-favored Bruisers. That was the optics of the situation. IF both players tusselled the ref call off-setting penalties...and it's a situational win for the Bruins. BUT the unbelievable happened. 10 min misconduct penalty to the pacifist ...who is also his team's "A" for asking clarification of a call or non-call. It was absolutely preposterous... like any other ref saying.."I'm NOT going to make that call...so break the rules of the sport & fight already - dammit!" WTF! You'd think Daniel was the player gooning-up it up & endangering others out there! Considering Doughty's non-penalized tantrums the subsequent year - those zebras (O'Halloran/ Sutherland) made themselves look so crooked....and TWICE over in the same instance.
