Glenn Healy takes a jab at Luongo?

"If he had a goaltender"

Luongo and Schneider are among the best goalies in the NHL. Schneiders average NHL GAA so far is 2.20, and he had a 1.96 during the season last year. Luongo posted a 2.11 in the 10-11 Season, and they both had good records in the play offs.

Typical ignorant easterners who know nothing about hockey out west.

But that's the point, they should blame the shooters. It's a team sport, not a goalie game.

Luo should have been better in 2 games and deserves the blame for those, but his team should have been better in almost all of the other games. Again, Luo got 2 shutouts and had 2 more games where he kept Boston to a single goal through half the game. In another he kept them to 2 goals to hold the tie into OT and gave his team extra time to do their part. So, in 5 of the 7 games Luo kept his team in it, but twice his team failed to score at all and three times they managed to score only once.

Luo carried them to 2 wins and they all worked together to get the 3rd. They only needed one more win and yet in the 4 loses to Boston the team only managed to score a measly 3 goals.

well it really shows you how much they pay attention back east when they all think AV is a god now and is a good pick up for any team... only good thing Gillis has done was forcing AV to change his style of play when he came in ... first 2 seasons with AV were the worst ever . after not making the playoffs Gillis came in and was on the edge of letting him go if AV wasnt willing to change styles... AV changed styles + core group hits prime + divison goes down the crapper = alot of wins for AV .. when coaching mattered AV got out coached 9 out of 10 times in all situations. but if he wouldve had a goalie he wouldve had a stanley cup hahaha.. maybe if AV wasnt a paid spectator with the best seat in the house he wouldve had a stanley cup.

Where are you pulling your stats out of, and didn't you notice what you had to wipe off of them first?

Boston scored 23 goals against us in the Finals. Averaged over the 7 game series, that's 3.29 per game. However, Luo was only in net for 20 of those goals. (Two were against Cory and one was an empty netter.) That gives Luo a 2.86 GAA for that series.

Really? That's your big comeback in defense of a team that scored all of 3 goals in 4 SCF loses and only 8 goals in the entire 7 game series? A fictional account of what you hoped would have happened if Luo had made every save without regard for the quality of chances against him or what kind of D support he was getting? That kind of "make the goalie carry the team on his back all the way to the Cup" wishful thinking is exactly why we didn't win. It's a TEAM sport for a reason. Like I said, Luo was to blame for 2 loses, but even with being pulled twice, Luo still made an average of 23.29 saves per game. And he made 20.38 saves for every goal his team scored.

Even a team like LA that many think did ride their goalie's coattails to the Cup played better than we did in the finals. Last year, LA had a G/G of 2.85. Their G/G in the finals was 2.67. They scored 2 or more goals in every game they won in the Finals. They only scored 1 goal in 2 games, and lost both. They were never kept scoreless. And Quick was only required to make an average of 20.83 saves per game. THAT is how you ride a good goalie to the Cup.
