Gillis out GM'd again!

He already has a bit of an attitude from what I can see. We don't need drama. We got rid of one our top prospects because of those very reasons (wanted top ice time, etc.). Someone that screams "I" instead of team.

This isn't your video game - you have NO idea what goes on behind the scenes with Gillis.

After reading the conversation that was going on between Nuck, you and others.

I laughed too hard at this post.

Yeah,Christian excelled with the twins but Gillis decreed he was only worth Bieksa money.

The PP was never the same.

He wasn't. He's not worth what he is paid IMO, neither is Bieksa. Niether Bieksa are Ehrhoff are worth more 4.6. But at the time it was better to keep Bieksa, in hindsight maybe not, but hindsight is 20/20,

In the first four years Gillis was here he made several admissions that the entire brain trust made decisions on whom played and whom did not.

This last season AV seems to have been given full reign.

MG finally let the coach put the players on the ice and then MG canned him.

The hate Gillis virus is spreading rapidly. To cure yourself, simply jump off a bridge. Plain and simple.

Listen, I wanted Eakins as the new coach aswell, but just because some fans wanted him and the Canucks gave multipul interviews, doesnt necessarily mean he was a lock for the job, especially when theres many other candidates out there and the team was firm in stating that they wanted to take their time while finding the "right fit".

Nobody here actually knows what Gillis and Eakins talked about, but for those of you that think that Gillis would be blindsided if Eakins took another job, think again... Infact, Im pretty sure that since the clock was ticking on him was the reason he was interviewed a second time so quickley. I dont think Eakins was ever offered the HC job in Vancouver, and that he was well informed that here would be other candidates interviewed before a decision on him was made. There were multipul reports that while the Canucks liked Eakins alot, they were still quite concerned with the lack of NHL experience, and the unknown of how he might adapt with the pressure of a fickle market that is still loaded with the pressure to win.

While Eakins has many attributes to like, I tend to think that for the current group of players, one of the pre-reqs they want in a coach is some NHL experience. From what Ive read, It sounds as though Stevens is Gillis' primary target, and has been all along... Though Im sure if Bylsma becomes available, he'll be a solid candidate aswell.

From Eakins end, how is Edmonton not a perfect fit? A very appealing destination when you have a bunch of very talented young players whom are under-achieving as a team.... For a coach like Eakins, its a dream job.... NOt to mention that if he can get hese kids to start having career years under his watch, he can extend his coaching shelf life, just as Vineault was able to with our talented group.

Bottom Line, we dont know for sure what the Canucks want, nor do we know what the candidates are looking for. Most of you morons are glass half empty thinkers who are quick to mock and slander without any actual substance to comment on. I realize that there are fans like this in every market, but Vancouver sure has an abundance of them.... the ones to have "gillis is god" and "in gillis we trust" banners while parading around the city while we're winning presidents trophies and making stanley cup finals appearances... Youre likley also the ones that destroyed our city when we ultimatley lost. Short memoried anarchists who are quick to forget and everything good this management team has built... You are the losers that gain national fame for being "Canucks fans", and re the reason there is so much distaste for this fan base.

sry 4 the rant... but if u feel the same way and are sick of reading all the negative dribble, please act as the voice of reason and remind these narrow minded crybabies that real canucks fans support the players and managers of their team, even when they fail to achieve their goals. These fans keep their expectations even keel and understand that there will always be up and down years. If divisional championships, presidents cups, playoff runs, scoring titles, and league awards has you down... you are spoiled rotten, and clearly havent yet cheered for this team when it was dragging itself through the mud for years and years.

Another failure by Gillis? ...please...

Did Gillis inherit his core for the cup run?, yes he did. He also retained them all under market value whereafter winning league awards while adding players like hamhuis, ehrhoff, samuelsson, torres, malhotra, lapierre, higgins... (and winning NHL GM of the year) Should he have abandoned ship after last seasons second straight presidents cup winning team which lost to a team that marched through every team it touched? Could he have with the looming lockout? We do know that he was in the mix to the last minute on Schultz and Doan.... and he tried extremely hard to move Lui under very restrictive circumstances, while picking up Roy and being heavily involved on Clowe and Torres at the deadline in a market that was way over inflated.

Every NHL player transaction has a high level of risk and uncertainty. (just ask GM Shero) Some work out, and some dont. THats the reality of the job. When you come to terms with this fact, and look at what Gillis has done over his tenure, you should realize that he has earned every opportunity to continue to build our team.

This fan bas is the faiure, not the team it "supports".

have a nice day! :)

2009-2010

Christian: 80gp 14g 30a 44 pts

Kevin: 55 gp 3g 19a 22 pts

2010-2011

Christian: 79gp 14 g 36 a 50 pts

Kevin: 66 gp 6 g 16 a 22 pts

In the year the Canucks nearly won it all and the Twins scored over 198 points ,Kesler bags 40 goals and the team is a huge winner.Christian mans the first unit PP.

The year before the Twins scored 197 points between themselves.Christian mans the first unit PP.

Playing two less games than Kevin in the 2010-2011 playoffs Ehrhoff still outscores Bieksa, despite playing with a shoulder injury sustained in the second round against San Jose.

The two years Christian played with this team the Canucks finished top two/ top four in the entire league in goals scored, while leading the entire Western Conference in goals scored both years.

The Canucks ended this past season with seventeen teams scoring more goals.

Calgary and Dallas scored more goals than the Canucks this year while Edmonton finished with but two fewer goals scored.

Ehrhoff was also -20 during the playoff run while Bieksa was a key player during our run on both special teams units and especially 5 on 5.

It is also worth noting Edler was on pace to outscore Ehrhoff that year and he outscored him the following 2 seasons.

Bieksa was way more valuable to us during the run & we have edler who is scoring at the same clip. Both Bieksa & Ehrhoff were vital pieces of this team but I would say Bieksa is/was more imporant.

Well said.

I am willing to give MG until end of this season to right the ship.

His best year leaded up to the cup run in which he added guys like Ehrhoff, Higgins, Lappiere, Maholtra, Samuelsson for next to nothing.

To be honest, he hasnt done much since then (2 years) so I think 1 more year is fair. heat is on, he knows he has to improve the team. I say give him one last chance.
