[Rumour] Flyers to buy-out Bryzgalov + Move Couturier and Schenn for right deal

Recommended Posts

Luongo, Edler for both Schenns

I'd do that deal for sure. We're kinda getting ripped off IMO but its a step in the right direction. Get rid of luongo, trade a bit of offense for a hard hitting bigger dman(trends are showing this is what wins In the playoffs, with a little nurturing he could pull through and be what he was supposed to be) and swaps JS for a Bschenn who will almost guarantee more playoff success.

Kesler and Edler for Couturiere and Schenn would get their attention.

I personally like Schenn the best as a possible long term H Sedin replacement. Couturiere does fill a roll we need right now, as a 3rd line defensive centre (with upside). As much as I would love the suggestion above; Lou and Edler for Couturiere and??? is the logical trade for all parties.

Correct, does not count against the cap; so Philly has no incentive to buy him out. And if they're lucky they have insurance for the $20 or $30 mill they owe him. And even then, if there is a team besides TO with more money than FAQ it's Philly, backed by COMCAST. The money does not bother them; they will make trades to win not flush actual money.

Similarly for other proposing Pronger be traded so we can buy him out for them; injured players are not eligible for buy-outs (see discussion on Booth).

Also just curious, since Prongs on the LTIR doesn't he not count against the cap & insurance covers his salary?

The only thing with him would be is if he retired since he signed that ridiculous contract when he was 37 or so, so if he retires won't his salary then count against the cap??

To Van

Couturier, L.Schenn, B. Schenn, Briere (to be bought out) - Philly clears out $14.585M

To Philly

Luongo, Edler, 1st - ($10.3 cap hit)

Briere gets bought out by Vancouver, and re-signs with Philly (since Briere wanted to stay with Philly and you can't re-sign players you buyout yourself)

Philly clears $14.585M cap space, but Vancouver takes back $8.085M cap hit

Vancouver clears $10.3M cap space, but takes back $8.085M ($6.5M cap bought out for briere with only $5M actual salary eaten)

If the Flyers buy out Bryzgalov and Briere I think this would be a fair deal:

To Vancouver: Brayden & Luke Schenn, Chris Pronger (to buy out), 2013 11th overall pick

To Philly: Roberto Luongo, Alex Edler, 2013 24th overall pick

Luongo, 1st = B. Schenn, 1st

Edler = L. Schenn, Pronger

Trade Booth and Ballard for picks

I like all this about trading with Philly and hope it happens. Taking Couturier and there 1st for Edler and a prospect is about all I can see happening. I doubt Philly wants another long contract in goal in Luongo. I see Luongo heading to NYI more than any other team but I hope he moves. He deserves to play and needs a new team to show he is still one of the best.

B. Schenn is actually not a very large kid from what I gather. His brothers a hitting machine but....ya. Couts yay, Simmonds for sure, Hartnell in a second. but Gillis will probably swap Luongo and a 1st straight across for future hall of famer C. Pronger
