Teams want Lu

Do u really think lui will want to play here anymore? Come on... I love the guy but all he showed was class... and mg n av spat on his face... out played Cory by far in the playoffs and had to sit on the bench and see the team he's killed him self for these years get swept thanks to him not playing.

I sure hope hes forgiving. Ive said from the start... hes the better goalie and better for the franchise. I dont care about his age

Elite goalies are hard to come by. Unless we trade for lumdqvist and he takes a pay cut

If he is NOT moved at the draft...does anyone else see Luongo holding-out...& maybe playing overseas somewhere to prep for the Olympic tournament? As the former winning goalie for the defending gold-medal team...he must be in the running...still - right? There's a LOT of pride there! That pride caused him to ask for a trade in the 1st place. He wants & needs a change! Too bad Quebec City won't be entering the league as an expansion franchise...THIS season. They would love him - as their corner-stone. Post-Olympics - the interest in LU may well heat up again. The punitive measures Burkie devised & put into this new CBA - back-bite teams signing long-term contracts...& screwed over MORE than just one team in VAN's situation. Many of those teams are conference rivals of the Ducks.... & the Original-6! Funny...how that worked out? Burkie must be laughing to himself - hysterically...or maniacally!

It's what caused him to ask for a trade in the 1st place...rather than battle-on more earnestly for the #1. He wants & needs the change! Too bad that Quebec City isn't entering the league THIS season....as an expansion franchise. They would probably love to have him as their corner-stone. Post-Olympics - the interest in LU may heat up again. Those punitive measures that Burkie devised & put into the new CBA - that effectively back-bite the players & teams who sign long-term contracts...screwed over MORE than just one team in VAN's situation. Many happen to be conference rivals of the Original-6. Funny...how that worked out? Burkie must be laughing hysterically!

Pierre Lebrun was on the team 1040 and said he spoke to one GM who he would not name, and said he is very interested in Luongo. But not his contract and he is hoping the Canucks buy him out so he could sign him right away.

So this situation is interesting. MG is not going to get the deal he wants now for Lu for sure, and if he does happen to pull a trade but keeping some of Lu's salary, it will be the best case scenario now. But what do you think Lu would get signed for say the Canucks buy him out because a lot of teams will jump on him. And Pierre also mentioned he thinks Luongo is the best goalie out of all of the ones available.

I agree with this.

I don't think LU will be properly appreciated for all he accomplished until he's long gone from Vancouver. (Same with the Sedin Bros)

But then again, maybe Lu was more sick of his Coach? Who knows right?

I personally have no problem with the thought of LU sticking around.

If we are talking about the differences between him and Shnieder, then we are talking about a huge difference in experience when it comes to games, as well as pressure. Lu's been there and though Cory's amazing, he still has to have time to catch up in these regards.

This CBA is actually the first example of punitive measures against contracts signed under previous CBA. At a time of signing they were completely legal. Changing the rules retroactively shouldn't be an option. I fully expect legal challenges from the teams in the future when their players retire and NHL tries to put the punitive cap hit on them. I doubt this new twist will hold in a court of real law

Yep, the huge difference between these guys is that Luongo has a huge difference in playoff failure.

Teams were in a BETTER position last year to pay for Luo because they hadn't yet had their cap axed. Now the cap has been cut, and the US economy is in no better shape than last year, and with Obamacare and cap and trade running down the track at US business like the apocalypse - where do you think all this cap space and money to afford Luo is going to come from? Who the heck is going to pay that much for a worn out, mentally fragile goalie that is darn near as old as God?
