The way he makes it sound is that Canucks are bringing in purely negative vibes and that Torts ruined NY's locker room and now AV is this positive energy that will restore balance.

Wonder if Brooksie is aware how utterly stupid Canuck fans and media were regarding AV?

Well if it's from Brookes then we definitely should have kept AV. Enjoy the country club atmoshphere coming in Rangers land. You still won't win anything, it's just every one will be in a fantastic frame of mind.

In my opinion the Canuck players got too content/lazy in the past couple of years and that is why we have had bad playoff results. That is why I think that bringing in someone like Torts could wake this team up. He would not be long term coach in my opinion, but rather a last effort to wake this team up and get them back to playoff success before the team starts declining in a few years.

I think both teams needed a change to a different style of coach with a different type of personality. Both are good coaches and both will bring a new perspective. I think both will be a positive change for their respective teams.

John Tortorella locker room during periods. HBO 24/7. Short video.

I wonder how the Sedins, Kesler or Beiska would react to this or will react.

Of course this guy isn't going to endorse Tortarella in any way. Why would he? But is what he says true. This coming from a guy Torts chewed up publicly more than once.

Who expected Brooks to say otherwise? Is NY's media as predictably stupid or as stupidly predictable as ours

I wonder if 'Brooksie' realizes how much Torts made him look the fool? I actually felt sorry for Torts after the Columbus trade. Sather absolutely gutted that team. NY NY have always gone after the big names no matter what the cost. Hadfield-Gilbert-Ratelle made a splash but were just that. The '94 CUP wouldn't have happened either if the NHL HO hadn't deemed it necessary.

No coach is going to be above criticism, especially when the team fails for two years when it counts.

AV is a smart guy and he hand picked going to a team that has enough top end offensive talent and a very good goalie to build his system around. Sound familiar? No one said the guy is stupid.

Brooksie has been not as bad as the clowns here, suprisingly enough. Considering his battles with Torts.

If you peruse his archives recently...he isnt as mean spirited as he could have been.

Check out the vids i posted with Torts talking about the roster moves.

Damn straight Slats effed it up for the team and Torts.

Much the same way MG effed it up for AV to see his concept thru and not replacing Malhotra.

If Slats trusts him...then he will absolutely stop gutting their depth down the middle.

If Brassard/Stepan/Miller/Boyle (assuming Richards is moved/bought out) can shine, it will only help the team concept.

If not...Slats had better trust AV's needs.

Brooksie has something negative to say about Tortorella? You don't say?

For one thing Brooks works for the New York Post which is a joke of a newspaper that often makes up stories because they have no credible contacts.

Secondly anything he says about Tortorella comes from a place of bias because Tortorella constantly made him look like a frightened turtle. The only reason people know his name is because of Torts.

I hope AV plays the same game with him and doesn't give him the time of day.

Meanwhile, as i expected, ex-Ranger and Canuck classy Nazzy says Torts was good. Definitely more intense than AV, but communicative and honest in a good way.

But then again, he retired after not even a half-season of Torts as coach.

Not true. Brooksie had already made a name for himself through ridiculous rumours long before Tortorella was around.

Which basically made him another Eklund.

My point is he doesn't get his named mentioned nationally on Sportscenter without Tortorella.

I prefer the vid I found on Youtube, titled "Behind The Bench With John Tortorella." Unlike the one-sided glimpse in to his style in the HBO video, this one reveals the whole story on how he thinks.

I don't get why some think him yelling at players will affect them badly, pretty sure all of the coaches in the NHL yell at their players, also these are grown adults they can handle it. I doubt AV never yelled at them, we've never even seen AV in between periods backstage coaching so how would we know.

Exactly. It's like any adult job where emotions run high. If you can't handle being yelled at once in a while, you shouldn't be doing what you're doing.

Players can handle the yelling. The real issue with Torts in the past was with accountability. He is not above insulting his own players in the media and from the sounds of it behind closed doors. Grown men or not as humans these players sometimes disagree or simply feel disrespected by his obnoxious way of dealing with some problems.
