I have a bad feeling the list in the video is accurate.

If I said I could do better than that no one would believe me, right?

/ If the results of our scouting are not already evident enough to convince some CDCers of the inability of the scouting staff to do their job well then this list will do nothing to change their minds.

I think it's more a list of who they thought each team would take to be fair. But yea, that's pretty bad.

The good thing is we got all our picks alot later than they were projected.

And Campbell at 5 to NYI wouldn't have been that bad considering their situation now. They need him more than they need Niederreiter right now. Campbell is gonna be a great young goalie.

An interesting note is the 115th pick.

That was Vancouver's first pick in that draft, and they had Abeltshauser projected in that spot.

He was taken in the 6th round 163rd overall by the Sharks. A 6'5" 225 pound D-man who put up over a point a game in the playoffs on his way to winning the Memorial Cup.

Meanwhile, the Canucks real 115th overall pick Patrick McNally had to sit out a year from Harvard after getting suspended...

Maybe they should have trusted their scouts after all.

well they had mcnally as a first round talent, so he would've still been their bpa.

Not saying right or wrong, but thats how it looks

I would probably put money on it actually.

The fact that they had him projected higher than players like Faulk, Etem, Toffoli, Jarnkrok, Galiev, Lindberg, Hayes, Schwartz, Zucker, Petrovic, Brodin, and Coyle scares the crap out of me.

The good thing is they seemed to have learned their lesson the following year and stuck to the ISS and Central Scouting rankings.

Jensen, Grenier, Labate, Blomstrand, Corrado, and Tommernes are all solid picks taken in good spots. Honzik was a miss, but he was at least ranked high for goalies. Either way, signing Eriksson made up for that one.

Last year, they made another smart choice in the first round with Gaunce. Mallet in the 2nd round raised some eyebrows, but I still think people will be happy with that pick. He's exactly the physical agitator that this team needs, and he knows how to throw down. And Hutton in the 5th round is looking like another Corrado like steal. Not having a 3rd and 4th hurt though.

I think the point is that they have shown improvement since their first couple of drafts. So as long as they're learning and showing progression, that's a positive sign. The key is not giving away 2nd and 3rd round picks, and making sure we take the safe choice there instead of project players.
