Bob McKenzie says Edler on the block

nuck nit

People who think Edler will suck with Tortorella make up the stupidest reasons.

Edler played as a puck mover when he doesn't have the speed to be a puck mover, of course he is going to look bad. I've said that since Ehrhoff left, the team put too much pressure on Edler to put up Ehrhoff type points. Tortorella will hopefully find the strengths of the players and give them proper roles that work in their advantage. He's made everyone of his D in the Rangers look fantastic. Even, Anton Stralman looked good defensively and people are using "guts" and Edler being "quiet" as reasons that he wouldn't gel with Tortorella? Man oh Man, people are so blind.

Teams around the league still see Edler has a potential number 1 and at 5 Million per year, It's an absolute steal. The only reason, and I'm totally against trading Edler is the fact that Gillis has screwed himself up by giving everyone on D a NTC and therefore, the Canuck's cap is screwed. Canucks get a hell lot easier to play against without Edler.

trading edler would be foolish move.

Even though edler messed up in the playoffs, its hard to not see what he brings to the table: strong defence, decent offence, good size, and good head for the game. If they trade edler they are idiots. Trade bieksa, he pushes opponents on top of our goalies and is definitely not as good as edler in all aspects of the game. Plus hes old....

Canucks trading one of their younger D-Core who happens to produce 40+ pts a season. Um no.

Say what want about Alex Edler but Canucks will have a huge hole on Defense if they do this unless they actually want to commit with Ballard or a Top 4 in FA.

One minute CDC says MG is the best GM, now CDC has turned on MG.

One minute CDC says AV is a good coach, then a bad coach who doesn't give underperformers a fair shake and wants him gone.

Now we have Torts, CDC doesn't have much good to say...you would almost think that they want him traded for AV.

CDC wants bold moves but then they insist that MG give the players away for nothing (eg Luongo).

Cmon CDC....take your hormone shots and quit whining!

TSN just asked Gillis about Eddie and Gillis said he had no more cap issues so the Edler trade is less of an issue now.

That Luongo contract really took precedence only a few years after it was signed.

Every negotiation starts with one side asking for a high price. That's how negotiation works.

Why would Gillis start off by asking a fair price?

He wants to see if there's a team out there that's desperate enough to overpay for Edler. If all he gets are fair prices, we're beter off keeping Edler.
