avelanch
Has the CHL experienced the same drop in scoring over the years that the NHL has? (due to improved goal tending, faster/better defense, etc) If so than that stat comparison with his pops would be even more impressive. in his dad's 19 year old OHL season this was the top 5 point getters: 1 Bryan Fogarty Niagara Falls -155 2 Stan Drulia Niagara Falls -145 3 Andrew Cassels Ottawa -134 4 Steve Maltais Cornwall -123 5 Kevin Miehm Oshawa -122 Last season, this was the top 5 point getters in the OHL 1 Connor Brown Erie -128 2 Dane Fox Erie -107 3 Scott Kosmachuk Guelph -101 4 Connor McDavid Erie -99 5 Andreas Athanasiou Barrie -95 5 Michael Dal Colle Oshawa -95 so yeah, there has been a drop in scoring since his dad played in the OHL in the late 80's, by about 30 points per leader

Looks to be the case.

That's "Is Cole Cassels the savior of the Canucks" kinda production...if he can maintain this pace.
Amish Rake Fighter
Andrew Cassels never played a very physical game. If Cole has a solid offensive game combined with a nasty side it is a big bonus. Love the progress. Cassels' kid plays the game a lot differently than his Dad. Domi's kid is the polar opposite. Sutter kids.....carbon copies of the previous generation.

stexx
What the hell I thought that was only for Canadian players. hes got dual citizenship he could technically play for canada at the WJ. But if he plays for one USA/CAN at an international tourney then thats it hes gotta stick to that country.
timberz21
Andrew Cassels had 37G 97A 134PTS in 56 games played during his 19 year old season. Cole would be on pace for 25G 98A 123PTS in 56 games during his 19 year old season. Don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but your calculations are wrong. You extrapolated the assists with his total points instead of total assists. 21A in 16 games = 1.31APG, that's 73A in 56 games and a total of 98PTS so with the drop in scoring in hockey over the years, you can say he's in the same range as his father still. elvis15
Yup, dual citizenship: Tyson Giuriato @TysonGiuriato · 6h Cassels is a dual-citizen and could still end up playing for Canada at the World Juniors. #Canucks
DeNiro
Canada has way too much depth at center. Him trying to make team Canada could hurt his chances at making team USA. Team USA invited him to camp, that's the team he should be gunning to make.
Plum
He should be playing with the country he wants to play for, he accepted the invite from HC to play in the SSS so I guess he's aiming for Canada but I hope this is his final decision not going from Canada to US to Canada. He also accepted USA's invite to the summer development camp for the World Juniors this summer so I don't know what he's thinking. He shouldn't be playing for the easier team to crack though even if it's beneficial for us.
DeNiro
He shouldn't be playing for the easier team to crack though even if it's beneficial for us. Why not? If he tries out for team Canada, he won't make it. Canada has too much talent, and typically goes with higher profile prospects.

I want him to make a decision on which country he will represent not flip flop on different countries. Sure Canada has too much talent but I don't want that the reason he plays for the States. Something every hockey player dreams of growing up. For you and I, it was to play for Team Canada, but for someone with dual-citizenship, the opportunities are broadened. He should try for whatever team he believes he can make, because the experience is so beneficial that it outweighs simple nationalism.
