snizzle_
OHL is bobbling passes while the Russians are moving it with crisp and confidence; it is either a product of better team play or Russia's skills are just way better. They're playing so much like the North America style of hockey now its not even funny

Canucks1219
russia is dominating these kids I wouldn't say it's been a "domination", though they looked far more confident in that period. Team defense for the OHL has been awful and they've left Russian players wide-open all game. The Russians haven't had a whole lot of sustained pressure but have done a great job of capitalizing on their opportunities. When they got a scoring chance, they've scored on it. Well, aside from that 2-on-0 chance. 26 shots through 2 periods but without a goal for OHL because the Russian goalie has been lights-out again. DeNiro
couple big ifs there Not really. McDavid's recovery time puts him right at the start of the tournament. He'll be on the roster regardless of if he plays the first game. Linden has already hinted that they would loan Horvat to team Canada if he was still with the team. If he's in junior, he'll definitely be on the team.

IF horvat is lent toteam Canada he will help on defense. IF he is contributing enough with the big club i dont see how we can afford to lend him. All day you amd others preach how horvat is the logical choice and best option at 4c right now and how great hes playing. Yet you seem to think that beginning and WD are hust going to be cool to lend him away for 2-3 weeks. You can't have both.

He changes the entire dynamic of a team. Much like Tavares did.

This team can afford to loan it's 4th line center out for a couple weeks. We have enough guys that can fill that role while he's gone, including guys on the farm. It's not that big of a deal. The world juniors is a great development opportunity, something Benning and Linden know full well.

In all reality its something hes already done. If he can play against men he should be playing against men. Ifnot he should be sent down to london. If he can play against men he should be playing against men. Ifnot he should be sent down to london. Representing your country is a whole other level than playing in the Memorial Cup. It's an honor only a select group of players get to do in their careers at any level. To deny a player like that would just be selfish. Especially since his spot on the roster is replaceable right now. Two different things. The world juniors are the best junior players in the world, not just regular junior teams that he would be playing in the OHL. So him being able to compete in the NHL has nothing to do with him playing the best players in the world in his age group.

He can ride bikes and work out his lower body and even his upper body (just not using free weights). McDavid will be in this tourny IMO, and the timeline indicates that he should be cleared to play. Guest Dasein
Being able to pass and shoot is part of being in game shape, this is hockey. It's not like that's going to disappear in 6 weeks. McDavid will get it back within 6 minutes of playing. Even if he doesn't, McDavid at 50% "game shape" is still better than most junior players. What matters most is having the strength and conditioning to play the game, which McDavid will have.

Also i feel he will be a career 3rd liner, still pretty good i guess In my opinion, he has a higher ceiling; a 2nd liner. He has many lot of the tool to be an offensive, abrasive and tenacious center who plays with an edge. He plays, skates and thinks the game alot like David Krejci (I actually really like that comparison).
